I wholeheartedly condemn the heinous attack that took place this week near Pahalgam, in Indian-occupied Jammu & Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent people. My thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those affected by this senseless act of violence. There is no justification for such brutality. There needs to be a full, transparent, and thorough investigation into the incident to ensure that those responsible are held accountable. I urge the international community to work towards a de-escalation between India and Pakistan, and to prioritise the peace and protection of civilians in Kashmir from the two nuclear powers. Violence can never be the answer. Stability and security in the region are essential, and must be pursued through lawful and peaceful means.
