My parents are so predictable in their complete unpredictability; it's driving me insane. Today was phoning to say "We're outside" while I was eating my soup for lunch, dripping wet and just wearing a towel after a shower. We hadn't even agreed a time to meet, they just came.

Hurridly researching through Google result after result, declining and trying to 'Reject all' cookies, FINALLY seeing behind the popup exactly what you want but having to decline cookie groups manually first, so cavalierly clicking 'Confirm all'...only to be hit with a paywall.

@BillyK_NyNy I am wary. I'm no fraidy-cat, but on Thursday I picked up some photocopying and it dragged over my wrist; the razor-thin mark it left behind was only a fraction off. (Also, everything before the 20lb was unknown to me in the UK - I initially thought you were mocking my lifting😅)

@Chris_Ince Do the Dunder Mifflin 92-bright 20lb reams send a shiver down your spine then?

The act of liking is weird and attention seeking. An "I see you 😏", when a lot of people don't want to be seen flirting, but thought jumping to a DM was way too forward. You only see interactions if you follow the same account, so it wasn't quite as public as it seems. Be cool.

Chance of obtaining the fox sweater from ‘Project Hail Mary’ is effectively zero, however you can get close as it’s a modification of an existing vintage knitting pattern that was made more friendly.

More bothering was being seated outside for dinner at 7pm after mentioning to people who were talking about the nice weather the past couple of days about how stark the day-night temperature difference is. Which it was 🥶

I don’t think ‘Project Hail Mary’ is at all a bad movie, I actually rather enjoyed it from the personal interaction element, it’s just too convenient and obvious in too many places. Nothing wrong with that, but it not something that requires thinking about either during or after.

@nxd1979 I don’t know if this should improve my view or not, but if they do build this place, and this movie is the actual origin of the term, then I want the main streets to be named after cinema’s ‘Manic Pixie Dream Girls’.

The lack of consistency between which names are left as-is, which get some semblance of a modification to a place name, and which get the clunky and cheap ‘town’ thrown on the end, is weird. Especially when you can predict the exact mispronunciations. Elizabethtown is disgusting.
Politics UK@PolitlcsUK

🚨 NEW: The proposed names the Government is considering calling its new towns - Elizabethtown (after the Queen) - Pankhurst (after suffragette Emmeline) - Attleeton (after ex-PM) - Athelstan (first King of England) - Seacole (after nurse Mary) [@thetimes]

I love puzzles and figuring things out. I spotted something in what I was watching last night a good 20mins before everyone else got it. Yay for brains. But this is odd because it fails to recognise the studio actively tried to hide it to make it more fun when you watch it.

The Spider-Man trailer chat is kind of exhausting in that it's actively (albeit perhaps accidentally) choosing to try and make movies less fun. "GUYS I've spotted a thing here where they've deleted a character" "This shot looks off...but would be perfectly framed for this twist"

Not that I’m suggesting we continue with bad ideas through sunk-cost or because someone is bankrolling awful plans. Planning something does and should cost someone time and money to do well; but this is hardly encouraging of an environment and culture of new infrastructure.

‘and would enable "alternative infrastructure or development proposals to come forward that better reflect current needs".’ Sure. Because seeing £179million spent on absolutely nothing is really going to incentivise people to suggest new projects. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
