@mooreholmes24 Hi Moore. We went to the same grammar school on Ormeau. I work in this area and today I've seen real fear in people. Please be honest with yourself about why you're really sharing this, where your sympathies lie, and what that says. I'm sorry things haven't gone better for you.

Botanic DEA (includes Sandy Row) has a population of around 50,000. Only 66% of the people living in that area were actually born in Northern Ireland. 9% of people living there arrived in Northern Ireland before 2010. 25% of people (1 in 4) arrived in Northern Ireland within the past 15 years (some admittedly from England and RoI). Statistics show there has been a rapid influx of people leading to demographic change within a small area in a short period of time. Sandy Row itself shows an even more dramatic picture. Three neighbouring “Data Zones” demonstrate a remarkable prevalence of foreign nationals (not including Irish) in the area. In Botanic zone C1, 53% of the 901 population are “other national identities.” In Botanic zone C2, 52% of the 471 population are “other national identities.” In Botanic zone C3, 49% of the 627 population are “other national identities.” The community in this area have witnessed a level of demographic change at a rate unexperienced in other areas of Northern Ireland. Nothing excuses racist violence or the targeting of innocents. That should go without saying. These statistics may however provide some insight into why there has been a unique level of disorder in this area over the past few nights. Those seeking to understand and explain what is going on may find them useful. Those seeking to demonise and alienate yet another community will wrongly misinterpret these statistical references as an attempt to justify racial attacks - they are not. A very real problem needs addressed and all the megaphone denunciations in the world wont take us a single step closer to solving it. Unity comes first through understanding. Stats are taken from NI Census 2021.

Anyone with autistic kids looking for a dog, would thoroughly recommend a Bernese. We got this kind, calm soul a couple of months back through generous friends, and she's been absolutely great. #Autism

This is simply an extraordinary study. Researchers gave $7,500 (CAD) to homeless people in Vancouver. The result? The program *saved* money. It helped many of them to move into housing faster, which saved the shelter system $8,277 per person. 🧵👇

Holy cow this is good. Jon Stewart easily lures a pro-gun/anti-drag queen Republican into a trap…and then blasts him over his blatant, shameless hypocrisy.

The headline has been changed so to be clear, the original read: "Lego goes 'woke' as new figures released with Down's syndrome and missing limbs." WOKE. To represent disabled children in the very toys they play with. What an absolute rag.
Scope@scope

Hi @Telegraph, Why are you so against disabled children being able to see themselves reflected in their toys? Don't they deserve the right to play?  Weaponising disabled representation like this is hugely damaging.  Please change this headline. telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/02/2…

“If they really are refugees, why don’t they have to stay in the first safe country they reach?” “Why don’t they just claim asylum in France?” Here is my answer, once & for all. To Jonathan Gullis, and to everyone else who ever wondered. #RefugeesWelcome

Sunak is a very odd mixture of the past 4 Prime Ministers Same suits as Cameron, as robotic as May, as duplicitous as Johnson and as woefully out of his depth as Truss #PMQs #PoliticsLive

The thing that interests me most about the Harry and Megan documentary is THE GOVERNMENT JUST APPROVED A NEW COAL MINE OFF THE BACK OF THE HOTTEST SUMMER EVER AND WHILE TELLING THE REST OF THE WORLD TO PHASE DOWN THE USE OF COAL AND IT CAN'T EVEN SEE WHY THAT'S A PROBLEM.
