@LanceUlanoff I kept an old Gateway because of its retired apps and archived data...just have to be careful not to knock out the charge cord

@JoshConstine @pitdesi FWIW we've have had a great experience with each of our SFUSD schools (elementary, middle, and now high school) - looking back, I would have made the same choices. (Also, you can make a *huge* impact with a PTA donation that is a fraction of private school tuition.)

Love SF. Never want to leave. But my wife and I both work in VC and still don’t see how we could afford a third kid. Biggest culprits: -Schools and summer camps that end mid-day, requiring both tuition and a nanny -Even the top SF public schools were dilapidated, understaffed, with very limited STEM or anti-bullying programs, pushing parents to private school or leaving the city -Housing of course is expensive, but so much so that an extra room for an au pair is unaffordable, and caretakers either live too far away for flexible use or charge crazy $50+/hr prices if they’re nearby

Mind-boggling: We made it so expensive to live in SF that we have to subsidize childcare for people making 95th percentile US income. Due to poor program design, families making 96th %ile income get NO support and choose 0/1 kids because they can't afford more. And I get it!
The San Francisco Standard@sfstandard

SF families earning between $310,000 and $400,000 say they occupy a specific, uncomfortable middle ground: too rich for child-care subsidies, yet too squeezed to have another kid. 📝: @stbearman sfstandard.com/2026/03/15/wea…

I just had a conversation with Grok about one of my all time favorite books “Ender’s Game” I had to talk to Grok, because I’ve never met anyone who’s read it, besides me. Lol. It’s a great book, though, if you’re ever so inclined.

@joshu I've instructed chat to add "no teasers or click bait-style engagement, just say the thing" to its saved memory, along with rules for filtering when and when not to make such additions to a chat

PSA for Lowell HS parents, if you aren't subscribed to @sfusd text updates. Kids are fine and @SFPD has the bomb dogs sniffing on site. Note: Kids can be released before dismissal to their adult.

Wondering how big the threads <-> X crossover is, aka who here is following the sagas of the blueberry lady, the eldest daughter on a family reunion cruise, and (cherry on top) the UK nephew's birthday party drama?

I'm giving away a ton of cool robocars (wheeled robots of all kinds) that I haven't had time to use. Free to good homes, but you must be willing to pick them up in the Bay Area (East Bay or Palo Alto) diyrobocars.com/2025/09/09/giv…

I could have saved so many hours trying to find inspiring experiences that showcase a instrument (cello, in this case) for a young musician taking lessons, had I realized that @ChatGPTapp could read music! 😅 #SeeItToBeIt 🎻🥰 (Here are two upcoming @SFOpera performances that I compared. I would never have figured this out on my own!)

I have always wished I knew which symphony/opera/etc works would have the most active cello parts (hoping to inspire my teen cellist), and after spending hours poring over performance schedules and looking up info on the scores, I finally thought to ask @ChatGPTapp I was BLOWN AWAY by the helpful answers 🤯
