I sleep better knowing @SnehalAntani exists. Today he raised $250M at $2B after @SignalFire led the Seed, A, & B. As JSOC's CTO, he fought terrorists who adopted AI faster than us. So he built @Horizon3ai to autonomously test and fix your defenses. Thanks for protecting us all

@wongmjane Idk what this company is doing and how it's consistently $100 more expensive than any other booking method. Are they betting people won't bother to check?

Boardy hit @twilio rate limits and their support is legitimately terrible. Looking for alternatives ASAP of a provider who actually wants high-growth startups as customers. Sorry if you’ve been trying to call/text @boardyai this week and he’s been a bit unreliable. Will fix it ASAP

“When robots?” is the scariest question in SF. Whole demo days of robot hand & data startups. Multi-billion funded humanoids that haven’t shipped But RaaS is finally cheaper than labor, cleaning bots at scale, maintenance & insurance arriving So, still early or right on time?

@Erica_Wenger @wolfejosh Yes! Big Nominative determinism believer as a silly guy named Josh, with an uncle Jon Law who was a cop and dad named Sandy who is addicted to ocean swimming

I’m obsessed with the concept of nominal determinism (shoutout @wolfejosh for mentioning it!) Going to add to this thread as I come across more Friday’s example was my dentist who is named Dr. Smile (last name is Smilowitz but called Dr. Smile for short in office)

linkedIn can feel soul-destroying but you still need it for recruiting. I’ve been working with a few founders on activating their whole teams and here’s what’s working: bounties, deep research, and topic swimlanes. 1. Pay bonuses. Ditch your content agency, and instead pay a few hundred bucks to each employee who posts 5+ times this quarter, and a few thousand for whoever posts the most, gets the most views, and makes the ‘best’ post. The team gets hooked on the visibility, and keeps doing it for free. 2. Make a weekly content ideation briefing skill. Have it scan news and social for relevant topics, then suggest hooks. Focus it on recency, turning the team into breaking news commentators where they can piggyback on the new info’s magnetism 3. Segment the founding team by audience swimlane. CEO to VCs, CTO to recruits, CMO to top-down customers, CPO to bottom-up users. It’s way easier to wake up knowing what to post about, and teaches the algo who to show you to.

@deedydas Beyond 1984 and Handmaid’s Tale for highest current relevancy to politics, I’d put Diamond Age #1 above the rest of the list for most useful for understanding the next 10 years of tech

Neuromancer is top 10 sci-fi canon and it coming to AppleTV is a seminal moment for sci-fi lovers. Way before its time, 1984, it is the primary inventor of the concepts behind The Matrix. It coined the term cyberspace and the idea of a hacker hero “jacking in” with a neural interface to a virtual reality. Neuromancer is the soul of cyberpunk. Mind you, it was written is 1984, well before the internet and when the first Macintosh released. “Life imitates art” is rarely truer of books. You can really view the tech industry today through the concepts in Neuromancer. It’s one of my favorite books. I think it’s sad that the tech has been so mainstream that many people haven’t read the sci-fi canon that has shaped many of the founders and veterans of the industry, and are just extremely pertinent to society today. Here’s my top 10 postwar scifi books I think everyone should read.

Wait wait seriously? You don’t understand housing supply and demand work? We have a great case study from Helsinki “supply of new market rate units triggers moving chains that quickly reach middle-and low-income neighborhoods and individuals. Thus, new market-rate construction loosens the housing market in middle- and low-income areas” hendricksfamilyfoundation.org/wp-content/upl…

All Safeways should become 20 story hi-rises for people who earn less than 70k but the hilarious thing about the YIMBY ageism that greeted this pic is that literally across the street is “Frat Mason” where 100s of rich young people get together for frisbee volleyball or whatever.

Hundreds of #SanFrancisco Marina residents turned out this evening for townhall on controversial @Safeway housing plan, which would place what for many is an uncomfortably tall, 22 & 18 story project at the low-slung neighborhood’s waterfront. @sfchronicle

@OhioScientist @JasonrShuman What’s hard to understand? “We build agents” ‘ok. vague, crowded. We pass’ “We build agents that reach out to dentist’s patients with unscheduled procedures, upping revenue 40%, built by partnering with clinics to defragment pricing data”. ‘Narrative makes sense, let’s meet’

@JoshConstine @JasonrShuman Narrative is for crypto projects, everyone loses except the founders. From our convos with Fortune customers, we found most startups backed by VCs are not fulfilling the deals they give them. I argue narrative is the worst benchmark.
