Croatia A220 at Split. That big initial swing is indicative of an engine failure on the left at high speed. Despite briefly going on the grass this appears to be a well handled aborted take off. Outcome… a few dents and zero injuries. Good job everyone.

@NonPaper11 Πρέπει να είναι το παστεριωμένο γάλα. Παιδιά που γεννήθηκαν κάπου στο 72 με 73 και μετά, στην φάση της ανάπτυξης τους (μέσα δεκαετίας 80) ήρθε το παστεριωμένο γάλα. Το πίναμε όλοι παγωμένο, σαν νερό, ενώ πριν ήθελε βράσιμο και ήταν μια αηδία.

Greek public debt to GDP ratio may be below Italy's by year end. At end-2020, it was 55pts higher.
Portugal's will be below Eurozone average. It was 38ppts higher at end-2020.

Continued divergence in Eurozone public debt dynamics with deleveraging in Southern Europe and growing indebtedness in Northern Europe. Aggregate stable at roughly 5ppts of GDP above the pre-pandemic level. The coming German debt splurge will raise it further.

Χθες πέταγα με @British_Airways . 4 ώρες πτήση, λέω ας δοκιμάσω το ίντερνετ που έχουν στο αεροπλάνο.
Δεν το είχα κάνει ξανά και δεν είχα πολλές ελπίδες.
Λοιπόν, έπαθα πλάκα με την ποιότητα της σύνδεσης, την ταχύτητα, και γενικά με την όλη εμπειρία.

Η σύνδεση δεν έπεσε ούτε μια φορά. Ταχύτητες γύρω στα 50 Mbps.
Μέχρι και την Ευρωλίγκα έβλεπα άνετα live.

Συγχαίρω τον @Odysseas_ για αυτή του την ανάρτηση. Η υποκρισία της Αριστεράς με τον Ισπανό ΠΘ έχει ξεπεράσει κάθε όριο. Ο κ. Σάντσες εξοπλίζει την Τουρκία, χώρα που κατέχει Ευρωπαϊκό Έδαφος στην Κύπρο και απειλεί με πόλεμο άλλη Χώρα της ΕΕ, την Ελλάδα. Και την ίδια στιγμή εμφανίζει τον εαυτό ως διαπρύσιο υπερασπιστή της Διεθνούς Νομιμότητας. Κάπου να υπάρχει και ένα όριο:
«Η κάθε χώρα έχει το δικαίωμα να αποφασίσει πως θέλει να διαχειριστεί την κρίση που βιώνουμε.
Η Ισπανία αποτελεί μέλος του σκληρού πυρήνα της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης και δεν αντιμετωπίζει άμεση απειλή από γειτονική της χώρα και την ίδια ώρα πουλάει όπλα στην Τουρκία, που απειλεί μια ευρωπαϊκή χώρα (Ελλάδα) και έχει υπό την κατοχή της, παράνομα το 37% μια άλλη ευρωπαϊκή χώρα (Κύπρο).
Παράλληλα δεν στέλνει δυνάμεις να υπερασπιστεί (αμυντικά) ευρωπαϊκό έδαφος από οποιαδήποτε απειλή, όπως έκανε η Γαλλία κλπ.

Τα παραπάνω δεν σημαίνουν ότι αποδεχόμαστε τα θέλω και την καταπάτηση του διεθνούς δικαίου με την ισχύ των όπλων από οποιονδήποτε.
Εξαιρετικά δύσκολες συνθήκες, εξαιρετικά λεπτοί χειρισμοί για να παραμείνει η χώρα μας ασφαλής και δυνατή.

An engineer’s “checked and found OK” is often treated as final, effectively ending the conversation and leaving captains with little room—or backing—to refuse an aircraft. When such decisions arise at foreign stations, the logistical fallout, coordination with IOCC and commercial teams, and the anticipation of scrutiny from senior management exert considerable pressure on the captain’s judgment.
There was a time when Indian airline pilots were trained to exercise command authority and were supported by their management when they chose to say no.
Today, that authority is quietly eroded. Captains are “expected” to comply —because everyone is singing the on-time performance song.

Is it just me? Or does anyone else find this massive push by the Indian media to force a technical narrative for the AI171 crash very unsettling? And this to the absolute exclusion of the other uncomfortable, but very possible reason? Some of the technical arguments are dubious at best, and in most cases just plain wrong, based on poor technical knowledge of the 787 systems. IF this was a human-driven incident then hiding the potential cause due to cultural issues around blame does nothing to address an underlying, and industry wide problem around pilots mental health, and a reticence to report problems. The CVR/Area recorder will already have given investigators a definitive answer in the form of the distinct audio signature of both fuel control switches being moved deliberately, IF that was the case. The sooner this is released the sooner the industry can deal with the root cause of the crash. 📷 Reuters

@Defencematrix1 Have you read the Lion Air report? Crew didn’t know the memory items for Airspeed Unreliable, or Unscheduled Stab trim. They didn’t know they even existed. The report mentions the manic page flipping to find them in the QRH, as recorded in CVR. Pilots were major contributors

True, even the Lion Air crash was initially said to be due to pilot and maintenance error. But till another Ethiopian Airlines aircraft crashed then they accepted the issue in MCAS, the way the upgrade was casually ignored, while delivering the new Max 8 caused so many loss of life, and even with that record, this guy is defending that very same company and the probable cause, even if there is a possibility of "maybe" it should have been investigated and not taken lightly.
Also, why would Air India, do this intentionally? Such a stupid logic! Why would they create fear of their own fleet in their customers? They already have these planes, it's them who will face the consequences.

BOEING 787 FUEL CONTROL SWITCH MALFUNCTION ON AIR INDIA FLIGHT AI132, MOVED TOWARD CUTOFF DURING ENGINE START
Safety Matters Foundation has raised concerns after Air India Flight AI132 (LHR–BLR) on 1 February 2026 experienced abnormal behaviour of the left engine fuel control switch on a Boeing 787-9 (VT-ANX). During engine start, the switch failed to stay locked in RUN and moved toward CUTOFF — a failure mode the FAA warned about in SAIB NM-18-33 (2018) as a potential cause of inadvertent in-flight engine shutdowns.
What is concerning is that this occurred after Air India stated it had carried out precautionary inspections across its 787 fleet with no issues found, raising questions about inspection thoroughness, recurring defects, and ongoing risk to crews and passengers.
