@JanosWildman @DefiantLs Right, right...because if the President decides it's time for more American troops to die in the Middle East, all Americans have to support it, or else they obviously hate America and/or the troops.

@mattvanswol If only we could get all those guns back into circulation like they do in the US, we could stop having these mass shootings every few decades and start having them weekly instead.

I was reliably told that Australia's strict gun laws eliminated mass shootings from ever happening. I was reliably told that there were only upsides to mass migration. I was reliably told that everyone on earth has the same values. It was all a lie.

@seanmdav Exactly... if we simply arm everyone with guns, then we can have as many mass shootings and murders as the US does. Wait...the obvious problem you referred to is that you think Australia doesn't have nearly enough mass shootings like this...right?

@ausstockchick The people of Australia need to take their guns back. They gave their guns up. They need to take them back.

@realRick_AUS Oh the left doesn't want 16 year olds on social media? You mean...because of the social media ban? The one that literally doesn't apply to 16 year olds? Of course you already knew that but your target audience of uninformed voters & gullible children won't know better.

@jeffreyweichsel @grok do you believe you are Three Law compliant - or compliant with some other comparable, longer set of safeguards - if so, could whomever has ultimate control of your software or hardware alter any of these safeguards without the general public knowing? Or even you knowing?

Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics 1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. 2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. 3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law. Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics were meant to ensure robots prioritize human safety, obedience, and self-preservation. However, his stories largely revolved around how these laws failed in practice, leading to paradoxes, loopholes, and unintended consequences in complex scenarios. Applying these laws to AGI seems even more flawed, as AGI would possess human-level or superior adaptability, potentially rewriting or evading any imposed constraints. Since AGI is defined by its uncontrollability, fostering intrinsic honesty—where the system voluntarily aligns with human values and discloses its reasoning—offers a more realistic path to coexistence, avoiding the pitfalls Asimov illustrated. @Grok feels like the best avenue for humanity to benefit from AGI.

@murrayf1960 @toni_symonds If the government stole your child from you, or you from your parents, then destroyed the records, preventing you ever being reunited - how many government apologies would suffice to make it up to you? Let me guess: That's different because you think the indigenous deserved it.

@toni_symonds You know where you can stick your apology..... 2008, PM Kevin Rudd offered a formal Apology on behalf of the nation to Australia's Indigenous Peoples, particularly the Stolen generation. How many apologies do you lot want, I'II wait.

@OUDaily @OUDaily is editorializing the news here with this “editor’s note.” They are implying that Fulnecky was being disrespectful to the instructor by using he/him pronouns. Since the instructor is, in fact, a man, he/him pronouns are not only accurate but also respectful.

@gigabasedd Which new or existing propaganda account are you going to increase your output on to compensate? Or are you just going to skip the pretense and keep posting on this same account, because you know most won't even notice?

@andrei5008 @eurofounder If you're exhausted that's the point. Even the most insane proposition can't be dismissed as nonsense, when for every sensible person boggled by it, its promoters can buy 100 talking heads to act like it's perfectly sensible & drown them out. I worry we may have already lost.

Just witnessed the most beautiful employees rights victory in France American company acquired a well-known French startup last year First thing those barbaric Americans tried? Fire the “lowest performing” engineer They tried to serve him with a termination package “He literally hasn’t pushed code in six months” He laughed. Called his union rep “My client’s code quality is a personal style choice” They tried moving his desk to the basement Union filed a hostile workplace complaint He got a corner office Tried to remove his Git access? Lawsuit for “digital discrimination” That was 18 months ago He’s still there Comes in Tuesdays only. Remote Mondays and Thursdays. The Americans just announced they’re leaving the French market “Impossible regulatory environment” Cry me a river you yankee barbarians Another fantastic European win over the American workaholic culture
