$100M spent today, gets 100 people indoors 5 years later with the status quo approach. That’s not scalable, it’s not humane, and it’s certainly not progressive to create the perfect solution for the lucky few, while leaving thousands of others to die on the streets. In San Jose, we changed our approach. We didn’t tax people more; we spent their dollars better to address their biggest issue. Three years later, we’ve reduced unsheltered homelessness for the first time in a very long time — and helped thousands get back on a path to self-sufficiency. Our answer can’t always be to spend more; we need to spend better. I plan to do that statewide once elected.

Homelessness has always been a problem. If you look at humanity from the Dawn of time, a lot of them were nomads. They lived intense in TVs and caves for shelter. What was accessible to people is the right to use the land everyone who is on this planet has a right to use the land and we need to find a way to give Land two people so that they can live on the land so that we don’t keep polluting our rivers and streams and communities with all these horrible looking homeless communities and I think that you are going in the right direction

@MattMahanSJ Everyone notice how Mahan never, ever mentions the Super Majority Dems in State and City leadership who have ruined CA. He's to afraid to say Newsom's name. No one wants a coward for Governor.

He drives a school bus in Dallas, Texas. But the kids on his route call him something else — Dad. Every morning before the sun is fully up, Curtis Jenkins pulls his yellow school bus to the curb and waits. Not just to pick up kids. To see them. For seven years, Curtis noticed things other people missed. The little girl who folded her paper lunch bag perfectly every day but left it on the bus — because there was nothing inside. The boy whose shoes were too small. The kids who got on quiet, eyes down, carrying weight no child should have to carry alone. So Curtis did something simple. He made his bus a community. He gave every child a job — a greeter, an assistant, a "police officer" keeping order in the aisles. Every morning he'd call out, "We're going to care about each other and love everybody, right?" And 50 small voices would answer back. But it didn't stop there. Over the years, Curtis spent thousands of dollars of his own money — money he saved by skipping his own Christmas gifts with his wife — on birthday cards, bikes, backpacks, turkeys at Thanksgiving, and 70 hand-wrapped Christmas presents. He didn't buy random gifts. He asked each child what they wanted. Then he went and got exactly that. No donation page. No announcement. No cameras. When the story finally got out and people questioned how a bus driver could afford it, Curtis just smiled. "It doesn't take money. It takes discipline." But here's the part that will stay with you. When a reporter asked the kids what they loved most about Curtis — not one of them mentioned the gifts. A fifth grader named Ethan, whose parents had divorced when he was four, looked up and said quietly: "He's the father that I always wanted. In some ways, I wish my dad could have been like that." Curtis heard it. Didn't flinch. Just nodded. "That's the paycheck right there," he said later. "If I can get that, you can keep the money." He wasn't looking for a medal. He wasn't going viral on purpose. He was just a man who decided, every single morning, that his bus would be the safest place those kids walked into all day. Sometimes the person who changes a child's life forever isn't a teacher or a coach or a counselor. Sometimes it's the person behind the wheel of a yellow bus at 7 a.m. — who chose to show up, and chose to care, when nobody was asking him to. Tag someone who needs to read this today. 💛

Hollywood is leaving because California has become unaffordable. Yes, we need state investment and tax credits. But we also need housing, single-payer health care, and lower utility bills. That's how we make Los Angeles the most competitive place to film in the world.

Gas prices are at their highest point since 2022. Big Oil spent $445M last election to buy Trump and Congress so they can wage wars and rip you off — while they laugh all the way to the bank.

@Elex_Michaelson @MattMahanSJ @MattMahanHQ @TheLeadCNN He will NEVER become the GOVERNOR of California. Newsom 2.0 is a hard NO. Polling at around 3 %. He's done. Stick a fork in him. He won't admit one party rule in Sacramento has ruined the state. If he did he might be at 4%.

San Jose Mayor @MattMahanSJ is the only Democratic candidate for CA Governor calling for a temporary suspension of the state's .61 a gallon gas tax. @MattMahanHQ: "we should restructure this gas tax so its not a tax on working people." Via @TheLeadCNN

You gave up your entire weekend. You made your sign. You found parking. You chanted until your voice gave out. You posted every angle on social media. You went home exhausted and certain you had done something historic. And Sunday night Donald Trump slept in the White House, woke up Monday morning, and got straight back to work. 🇺🇸 And here is the cold hard truth about every protest the left has thrown at this president since 2016. Not one has changed a single policy. Not one has stopped a single deportation. Not one has reversed a single executive order. Not one has moved a single vote that was not already going their way. The Women’s March did not stop him. The impeachments did not stop him. The indictments did not stop him. The ballot removal attempts did not stop him. The “No Kings” protest did not stop him. Because 77 million Americans already had their protest on November 5th - and theirs actually counted. Donald Trump is your president. He was your president before the march. He was your president during the march. He is your president after the march. The only thing that changes that is another election - and after watching this administration deliver results, we are not worried about that either.

@TomSteyer Your constant denigration of ICE and your clumsy interview where you said you hadn't followed what Newsom was doing over the last 7 years ended your campaign. You will NEVER become the GOVERNOR of California despite what you spend.

Eric Swalwell voted to thank ICE — even when almost every Democrat voted no. He also missed four important votes to rein in ICE. Maybe we shouldn't be surprised, though, since he has the second-worst attendance record in Congress.

@MattMahanSJ I am VERY familiar with Watsonville. It's a farming community. As usual, Mahan didn't tell you this. SJ/CA had work permits for the LEGAL migrants. They would come from Mexico, work for a few months, then go back to Mexico.

I grew up in a little farming town called Watsonville, and every morning, my parents woke me up before dawn to get to school. And every morning, we would see our neighbors already hard at work in the fields. Our farmworkers, our immigrants, our agricultural communities work so hard. This day, and this movement, was never about one person. It was built by thousands of families who fought for dignity, for fair wages, for a better life. That fight continues today. As governor, I'll stand with the workers and families still fighting. Happy Farmworkers Day.

San Diego District Attorney @SummerStephan has brought street overdoses down 25% because she listened to the will of the voters. She has nearly 1,000 people who instead of cycling into jail for the third, fourth or fifteenth time, instead chose treatment. But it wasn't easy. Sacramento isn't helping. As Governor, I will. @GovPressOffice In case you missed it, California under @CAGovernor @GavinNewsom has the HIGHEST UNEMPLOYMENT RATE among all 50 states. Our job growth stalled out back in 2022. Since then, most jobs are taxpayer-funded in California. Newsom destroyed the private sector jobs.

🚨 ABC, CBS & NBC: Total Blackout Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL) just got hit with 25 ethics violations by the House Ethics Committee. She’s accused of stealing $5 million in FEMA disaster relief funds — money meant for hurricane & COVID victims — then laundering it through her campaign and spending on personal luxuries like a diamond ring. She faces up to 53 years in prison. George Santos got wall-to-wall coverage for weeks. This Democrat? Zero seconds on ABC, CBS, or NBC evening news. NewsBusters confirmed the total media blackout. The media isn’t biased. They’re complicit. #MediaBias #TwoTieredJustice #CherfilusMcCormick
