Leaks are common. Saw this MRI in our reading room and assumed this was my patient cause of the saggy brain. Was my colleague’s cause of cerebellar AVM. She had a 5 year history of headache after an epidural during childbirth. Extensive CSF leak from L2-3. ⁦@spinalCSFleak

All patched up now! (My colleague told me to say: "You should see the other guy.") Thank you so much to my amazingly kind and generous friends and doctors: @MarbanLab, @marcelmaya, Dr. Charlton, Dr. Oswell, Dr. Pilkington, Dr. Wong, Lilit and @benyaffe for coming to the rescue. Stay safe out there!

When you're on call for a four day weekend and hope that an offering to the call gods will help. It could get explosive on a Fourth weekend... #Cedars #neurosurgery

When you're on call on the weekend, have a subdural hematoma to evacuate, and bring donuts for the residents and staff. But really you're just calculating if I eat six of these, do the call gods erase some of the calories?

Had the privilege of presenting at my first Western Neurosurgical Society meeting this past weekend. It was a great meeting and wonderful organization. We spoke about things that truly matter to neurosurgeons. A great mix of academic, employed and private physicians. We spoke about issues vital for the continuation of our profession, such as the “betrayals of purpose,” that one speaker spoke of. Plus it’s a great family friendly meeting. The kids loved the night at the Monterey Bay Aquarium! A million thanks to @braindoc69 for convincing me to apply for membership.

Happy Father's day! It may not always seem like it, but somewhere, way in there, they might almost sort of appreciate you sometimes

Can't believe it's been almost 14 years since I had brain surgery for one of the rarest and most aggressive brain cancers in existence. This photo is from 2009. Cancer survivorship is not easy, but I'm grateful to be alive and surrounded by love. (1/8)
