Actually, I had a journalist ask me about this yesterday. It's not completely true - the concept of "Ghost" jobs. A bunch of companies post evergreen jobs that they hire for fairly regularly. At that exact moment, they might not actually have an opening, but they could have an opening the next day or the next. Some post jobs because of policy even when they know they'll most likely hire internally. Some post jobs only to have things change internally, and that job goes away. I have yet to meet one recruiter, one company, or one leader who purposely posts a job for no reason whatsoever. "Ghost jobs" is a concept that isn't real.

The level of hate for parents who have good relationships with their college age kids on LinkedIn is so fascinating. Angry a parent took a group of kids out to dinner after dorm move in? Mad a parent helped decorate a dorm room? Walked campus? Is elder Gen X ok?

also, just for the record, not true that i'm against suspenders! i was only commenting on how roger wore them. and suspenders is American English; braces is British English. i typically say suspenders bc i grew up here and dislike when ppl affect mannerisms to seem upper class

@TimSackett We already have iterations of this in the curriculum. Hell we’ve mandated here as a state law (HB 1261) here in Florida. Students don’t give it the attention it deserves. The messaging (and forced mandate) are confusing and don’t make sense to the students.

"Real Life 101" should be a mandatory university class for all incoming freshmen. Curriculum: - What degrees suck to have. - What degrees will get you a job the fastest. - How to network. - How to not be creepy. - How to be as attractive as possible. What else?

Also, there’s a housing crisis here in Dublin and that has a massive impact on attracting talent. Same thing for us back home in Miami #iicdublin2024
