UGANDA FILM FESTIVAL (UFF) VIEWERS’ CHOICE CATEGORY UPDATE Cinema UG was part of a powerful engagement that brought together filmmakers, producers, and key industry stakeholders behind this year’s Viewers’ Choice-nominated films. 📌 Waka Waka, 📌 Longing to Belong, 📌 You May Kiss the Bride Goodbye, 📌 ADUI, and 📌 Maama Wange The session, graced by the Executive Director of UCC, reflected deeply on the journey of Uganda’s creative industry, sharing personal experiences dating back to 1977 and celebrating how far Ugandan storytelling has evolved. It was a reminder that the industry is not just growing, it is building a legacy. A major highlight came from MultiChoice Studios Uganda, which announced full sponsorship of cinema screenings for the nominated films under the Viewers’ Choice category. This means audiences will access these films FREE OF CHARGE in cinemas during the scheduled screening days. However, filmmakers were encouraged to take ownership of audience mobilization. The sponsorship will cover only actual attendees, meaning every empty seat is a missed opportunity. Creatives are therefore urged to actively promote their films and bring audiences to experience Ugandan cinema on the big screen. The session also introduced upcoming filmmakers’ workshops running from 25th May to 2nd June, open to all creatives, focused on skills development, industry growth, and networking. At Cinema UG, we celebrate this milestone as a clear sign of a collaborative industry where regulators, partners, and filmmakers are working together to grow Ugandan film to new heights. #uff2026 #cinemaug #UgandanCinema #ViewersChoiceAwards #supportlocalfilmmakers #FilmIndustryGrowth #WakaWaka #longingtobelong #MaamaWange #audi #youmaykissthebridegoodbye
