@itsnwts You can call me ugly for $7.00
Heck, you can do it for free.

We adopted a teenager who had bounced around foster homes his whole life. The first night, he slept on the floor instead of the bed. When I asked why, he said, "I don't want to get used to the soft mattress if you send me back." We dismantled the bed and slept on the floor with him for a week until he believed us.

@PelopeAl41549 😂 That was my strategy! I tried at different times to learn but never felt comfortable in makeup. I agree that dressing professionally and doing your best at your job is good.

@UcheMaryOkoli I love the mass in my own language. I very often hear things in a new way, even if I've heard it a million times before.

Do you have anyone in your extended family whom you trust? There are children with autism in my extended family and I'm already teaching my young kids that they should always be there for their cousins. I will do whatever I can to make sure they help care for their cousins when the adults are gone. I firmly believe it is their duty to help and this duty is rooted in charity.
If you don't have anyone, have you considered seeking help from your parish or diocese? Maybe even nuns?
One of the best things you can do is get yourself to heaven. If you do so, you will be able to care for your son more effectively than you already do, because you will be a saint and intercede for your son before the throne of God.
I'm sorry if this is stupid advice and something you already know. May God bless you, your boy and your family 🙏

I am really burdened today with thoughts of my own mortality. I have an adult son with autism, who is unable to care for himself. I realize as I enter my 7th decade of life (I just turned 60), that my son is likely to survive my wife and me. We have a daughter who has her own problems and may never be someone who can step in when we’re gone. I’m sure other families are in similar positions. How are you ensuring that your disabled child/children will be cared for when you’re not able? Did you set up trusts? Who did you trust to manage it to ensure it’s being used for the benefit of your child? I’d appreciate any help and happy to provide it to others in this situation.

@SkyVirginSon When I started going to a daily mass a different person led each decade. The different voices, their inflections, all touched me so much; real conversations with our Lady. It turned the rosary into something lovely instead of a difficulty.

@father_rmv I see a lot of criticism without understanding. The number of priests in this diocese has been declining for years & traveling to multiple towns to celebrate mass is a big burden. Consolidating makes sense, but it's also hard on everyone. Please pray instead of criticize🙏

The Archdiocese of Dubuque, Iowa, is halting Sunday Mass at 84 of its parishes as it consolidates parishes into 24 pastorates. ncregister.com/cna/archdioces…

@angelojello74 Fall used to be mine but as I've gotten older, I still think it's beautiful but it also makes me sad that winter and cold are quickly coming. I now love spring the best - the color and knowing winter is behind me.

@catholicbob My brother is in a similar situation as you and I know it ways heavily on his heart. ❤️

@amitylee13 I love your story Amity, it's humble and honest and beautiful 🥰

@Zo_bo_fo_sho I agree. When my grandson started kindergarten last year I was worried about all this stuff I hear, wondering if things have really changed that much. My goodness he's had a great two years with wonderful teachers and staff. I hope it continues!

@angelojello74 You earlier explained that you like to read stories that are uplifting, and I saw yours as that. You don't have to apologize for sharing positive actions! Also, look up Mother Teresa and her "Do It Anyway" poem, I think it fits your situation beautifully 😊

So I had made a post about helping my neighbor last weekend. I didn’t do it for recognition. I didn’t do it for praise or anything like that. I’ve done a lot of things in my life. Worked building houses. Offices. Big jobs. Little jobs. I worked for two multi million dollar companies. I don’t mind helping people. Easing some stress for someone is a good thing. I’d rather be part of the solution than stand by idly and do nothing.

@CatholicAwesome It might be, I really hate bothering people or calling at a bad time so I wait for them to call me 😶 I don't get upset if they don't, though, and we do all text a lot as a family.

@amitylee13 Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
and let Your perpetual light shine upon him.
May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed
rest in peace.
Amen.
