Ghana pauses to celebrate a man who stepped into the most consequential economic office in the country at one of its most consequential moments. The numbers that surrounds his name today, on his birthday are just remarkable. Under his sterling leadership at the Bank of Ghana in just a year; i. Inflation has fallen from 23.8% to 3.2%, the lowest since CPI rebase in 2021 ii. The Cedi gained 41% against the US dollar, earning it’s distinction of being the strongest performing currency iii. Ghana’s gross reserves climbed from $9.1 billion at end of 2024 to $14.5 billion, the highest reserve position in Ghana’s entire history. iv. Monetary Policy Rate was cut from from 27% to 14%, easing cost of credit for businesses, farmers and traders v. Consumer confidence moved from 79.2 index points to 111.7 All the above are a testament to something that cannot be manufactured, genuine public trust has returned to Ghana’s economy. These words reveal the character of a man who knows that macroeconomic stability is not an end, but a foundation. Ghana is more stable today than it was when he arrived, we’re paying less for the goods we buy now, borrowing at rates that do not crush ambitions and holding a currency that the world has noticed. This is the birthday gift, @DrJPAsiama has given to the country he proudly serves. Happy 58th birthday Governor Johnson Pandit Asiama. May this year bring continued strength, wisdom and the completion of the work you have capably begun.

The BoG loss of GHS15.6bn came with positive effects on the economy, with macroeconomic indicators showing positive signs, not the adverse effects coupled with huge losses we had in the past government. The GHS15.6bn loss is the price for fixing the economy. #AbanPapaAba

Incompetence is 54% inflation, GH¢17 to the dollar, 24% lending rates and depleted reserves. Yet you’re making noise about GH¢15bn while inflation has fallen, the cedi has stabilized, and reserves are now $14.5bn.

On Thursday, the Board of the Ghana @_nsagh paid a courtesy call on the Volta Regional Minister, @jamesgunu1 Gunu, following a board meeting held in the region. The visit provided an opportunity to discuss ways of strengthening collaboration between the Authority and regional leadership in support of youth development and service delivery. While in Ho (Oxygen City), the Board also undertook an inspection tour of some of the Authority's farms, gaining firsthand insight into the contributions of service personnel to agricultural development in the area. In a further show of commitment to the region's youth, the Board and Management of National Service Authority donated GHS 50,000 to the VOLTA YOUTH DEVELOPMENT Fund. Hon. James Gunu warmly received the gesture and expressed his administration's readiness to partner with the NSA in driving grassroots development across the Volta Region.
