127 year old SILVER FLASK belonging to one of America’s “Fathers of Golf” is a FANTASTIC piece of Golf History - DISAPPEARING for over a CENTURY from New York & turning up in the Carolinas🏌️⛳️ Sterling Silver Flask Awarded to Albert E. Paterson (Patterson by some accounts) in October 1898 for “Best Gross Score” in an Open Tournament held at the Richmond County Country Club in New York. A.E. Paterson - the “Beloved Father of Golf of the Richmond County Country Club” - was the INAUGURAL winner of The Hunter Medal in 1895, presented by Mr. George Hunter who was Captain of the first RCCC golf team and winner of the 1893 United States Amateur Championship. Albert is listed again as the 1901 Hunter Medal winner. The Hunter Medal is considered to be one of the oldest trophies in competitive golf in the United States; AND quite possibly one of the oldest which has been in continuous competition since. Attached you’ll find a @nytimes article from October 28, 1898 that directly reports “A.E. Paterson Wins the Gold medal for Lowest Score in the First Round”, referring to the RCCC’s First Open Golf Tournament comprising of 60 players & “The gold medal for the best gross score in the qualifying round was won by Albert E. Paterson of the home club, who did the course in 83 holes.” This silver flask (now owned by a private collector in NC) inscribed with Paterson’s name and his accomplishments at that tournament - was a gifted reward to one of America’s Founding Golf Greats. Amazingly the 128 year old flask still has the ORIGINAL CORK inside the cap in wonderfully preserved condition! What a wonderful piece of history from the Great State of New York and one of the United States Golf Association - @USGA oldest clubs -The RCCC- with the USGA being organized December 22, 1894 with RCCC being first to join as an Allied Member on March 28, 1895.

I just finished an interview with Brad from Across Nigeria… and honestly, I’m sitting here stunned. Today, he buried 14 Christians in a mass grave. Two were infants. One was a 4-year-old child. And this isn’t some recycled internet story or political talking point. Brad was literally there today helping bury them. While on the way to investigate one attack, another Christian community was attacked. He said the violence is happening so fast they can barely keep up anymore. What shocked me even more is this: Brad shared that 72% of all Christians killed worldwide last year were killed in this region of Nigeria. 72%. And hardly anybody is talking about it. The mainstream media should be all over this. Instead, most people scrolling social media today have no idea our brothers and sisters in Christ are being slaughtered while churches are being forced underground. Guys… this matters.
