@ContrarianCurse I suspect they can afford to keep launch prices low because they might have an internal system in the game to gain from - they said people can make real money on this game buying and selling stuff. If that's true they may get commission fees or idk what - just a guess

$PDD and $BABA are getting crushed, this apparently by a Chinese directive on broker cross-border trading. Chinese brokers are apparently now prohibited to route China ADR orders to US markets Gemini interpretation below: "Existing mainland investors using these platforms are likely panic-selling their US ADR holdings out of fear their accounts or funds will be frozen in the regulatory crossfire." Again, I am very much reliant on Gemini as the original document is in Chinese. But as things look right now, Chinese investors are only allowed to liquidate, new buys are prohibited. Very surprising and fluent situation

@MedicalClinic10 @Rendezvous2332 I think so, yes. And the reaction in the market would be justified in the case China was 50% revenue segment so I’m definitely not selling today but will see what happens - I do expect a rebound but I could also be completely wrong

@ClayBon65310 it's so funny because my avg was 11.31, and just a few months ago it went to exactly 11.31, i was exactly even, then all of a sudden it just tanked and has been going down ever since.

@MedicalClinic10 My issue is for the 12-18 months horizon, this news plus the negative sentiment is just a terrible combo. If I look 5 years from now I am fine holding and averaging down now bit by bit assuming some improvement with the regulator. That’s why I’m thinking of taking only half a L

@MedicalClinic10 Yes that is correct, the truth is that this should not have a huge impact on their business if not for Hong Kong which is the biggest risk here. But I suspect they pay penalties and that’s it and $TIGR has lots of cash so shouldn’t be a problem

@MedicalClinic10 People say you could have seen it coming but it’s not true. This happens. It’s a terrible day but capital has not been lost entirely and there are plenty opportunities so we have to look at it that way and just accept we made a mistake, move on, and make more money

@MedicalClinic10 And then I will sell half my position and take some L - I think that’s what I will do but take it with a grain of salt because I’m still contemplating

@MedicalClinic10 Now, the real issues is Hong Kong which I believe is 35% of $TIGR revenues, they biggest risk is they take away the license there. How likely? Not that much I would say but it’s difficult to assess. Either way, I probably going to wait next week for a small rebound upward

I know this should affect only a part of $TIGR business but adding this to the sentiment that was already prevailing, makes a terrible case for the next 12/18 months

Online brokers $FUTU $TIGR down massively premarket on this news. China's CSRC cracks down on "illegal cross-border securities, futures, and fund business activities." FUTU down 30% TIGR down 40% This has been a lingering concern for companies operating in the grey area while giving mainland investors a way to invest overseas outside of the purview of China's strict capital controls. The text of the CSRC press release reads very aggressively and suggests "severe penalties" and "must be resolutely cracked down upon."

Black Diamond is superior to Germanium in many ways and allowing designers to reduce costs due to less weight, less need for multiple cameras for adjustment due to weather etc. $LPTH Even if Germanium exports were opened up today that would just be a few fingers in the dam. Companies now see how exposed they are to the whims of a trade war and suspect supply chains. Thanks DJT. Domestic supply will again take years to stand up despite Trump saying "in one year we will swimming in so much rare earth we won't know what to do with it". Now as a company do you want to be exposed to this supply chain risk or do you want to redesign for something that does not need to be mined, and can be made in ample supply from a trusted domestic (or in case of Europe - allied) source? I think for anyone who thinks past 6 months the choice is clear.

I think you might have misunderstood me a bit, or rather, I probably didn't express myself clearly: The stock market is all about making money, not about stroking your own intellectual ego ("do you want to be right, or do you want to make money?"). That's why I have absolutely no problem with people making money with AI or momentum stocks, or even with Quantum like you said you did last year. My point is simply that people often confuse riding momentum or pure luck with actual fundamental valuation skills. If you consciously ride bubbles with a clear exit strategy and you're fully aware of it, I think that's an absolutely legitimate approach. The problem is that most people aren't even aware that they are just riding momentum / high beta. That’s why they are going to be in for a rude awakening in the next bear market. It’s the exact same mindset that caused many people to lose 50–70% of their net worth in 2022 with all those Covid high-flyers. For me personally, positioning myself in these momentum trades is just not the right strategy. It completely goes against my nature, because ever since I was a kid, I’ve hated following the mainstream, no matter the context. I also don't believe you had to be invested in AI stocks to be successful so far this year. There are plenty of great small- and micro-cap investors who have achieved outstanding YTD returns with completely different themes. And regarding a concentrated portfolio: It feels great when you're right - but when you're wrong, you can quickly find yourself 20 percentage points behind the indices. There are plenty of examples of that among other investors I follow. That's why I like my more diversified approach. Regarding defense stocks: Have you looked at $SMSH? I built a position here on Monday. It's one of the best drone hard-kill solutions on the market with massive potential IMO. And fundamentally, according to my estimates, it's significantly cheaper than many US high-growth defense peers, although not a bargain.
