🚨 URGENT: The House could vote in a matter of hours to gut funding for public media.

@adamconner And, as might be expected, this DOES NOT preempt if a state or local regulation is designed to facilitate or streamline AI deployment. Even if it is stripped here, betting we will see this language again.

House E&C Republicans also slid a ten-year preemption of state AI laws into their reconciliation text, if you want to know the House GOP AI legislative strategy. Hard to imagine this survives the Byrd Bath in the Senate.

For example - annoying to #FCC geeks like me - I haven't been able to search by FCC number in at least a month. (FCC number = unique number assigned to any FCC decision, not the docket number and a handy shortcut to obtain a ruling available via FCC's EDOCS.)

The @FCC website is down (again) this morning. It has not been working correctly, off and on, for weeks.

This is a GREAT resource, I'm really glad we could put it out. To help make sure incarcerated consumers and their loved ones get the protections -- and lower rates-- they deserve.

I’m sorry to see Commissioners Bedoya & Slaughter treated this way.
They've demonstrated unwavering dedication to public service and deserve to continue serving as Congress and the law intended.
We all have a duty to keep speaking truth to power and to stand firm in our beliefs

Instead of protecting their constituents, 10 Senate Democrats helped pass a budget that guts essential services and fuels mass deportations. This is unacceptable.

Today is @unitedchurch's #RacialJusticeSunday, and we're honoring the legacy of our founder, the Reverend Dr. Everett C. Parker. His work was centered around ensuring media served the civil rights movement for racial justice.

In what will, unfortunately, likely be just another of the shocking but not surprising action by this @FCC, the rulings last week to protect broadcasters from undue government pressure were just revoked.

In this context, this is unquestionably the right decision.🧵 buff.ly/4hkIa66

We're getting a few more things done on #phonejustice as we approach the holidays on behalf of @UCCMediaJustice. I testified last week at the Oregon state legislature about and we filed Reply Comments @FCC this week.

The bipartisan infrastructure law prohibited digital discrimination.
Now a poison pill budget rider could block those protections!
Everyone needs fair access to high-speed internet and the services it provides.
Join us and @UCCMediaJustice in opposing this poison pill.
