The official portrait was unveiled honoring former Mississippi House Speaker Philip Gunn. Speaker Gunn became the first Republican to be elected Speaker of the Mississippi House in January 2012 after the Republican Party gained the majority. The @MSGOP is forever grateful for the many years of service and historic accomplishments. 🇺🇸🐘

The @MSGOP takes a moment to recognize & honor Donald Gammage. A Forest, Mississippi native, Gammage dedicated 37 years to law enforcement, including 30 years with the Olive Branch Police Department. Appointed Chief of Police in 2009, he became the longest-serving police chief in DeSoto County history. During his 13 years as chief, the department earned national accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, a distinction held by only a small number of agencies in Mississippi. He also served as President of the Mississippi Association of Chiefs of Police and led Olive Branch Police through significant growth as the city expanded. After retiring in 2022, Gammage continued his commitment to public service and now serves as Ward 3 Republican Alderman in Olive Branch. #BlackHistoryMonth @MinorityMSGOP
