Yesterday, we were visited by Professor Cleo Bishop, who told us all about her incredible research into new treatments for basal-like breast cancer - an aggressive molecular subtype of cancer. Breast cancer is now the most common cancer in the world, and kills one person every 45 minutes. With our funding, @CleoBishopLab has identified a weakness in these tumours, and is exploring methods to both stop tumour growth and then kill the cancerous cells. We love being able to share news of our research here! We have been working with the great @CleoBishopLab at @QMUL to develop a #twopunch method to eliminate cancer cells by forcing them into a sleep-like state (#prosenescence), making them vulnerable to #senolytic drugs
