Anyone that comes to our country, works, has no legal issues, and pays taxes should automatically become a citizen after 5 years.

And in that time people signing leases/mortgages will benefit until their terms are up so the short window of opportunity can have longer lasting effects

So, if 40,000 Haitians are forced to leave Springfield, Ohio, won't rental housing become cheaper for ... you know ... citizens of modest economic means??

@FumblingFilm @homesickbrando I can tell you. This modern trend will kill a lot of shows. And honestly, if it has to sell out day one, then it’s not REALLY worth it for artists who will sell out slowly as people will just say “it’s bad sales, bad tour” before they start. It’s not sustainable

@MW4Liberty Solid point. During COVID the government suspended rent and loan payments, but did not suspend property taxes. Landlords were forced to eat the loss without relief. Later, some states tried to give compensation, but it had to be tenant driven and that didn’t land.

@bcrice @JayThomas119186 @spencerpratt We have thousands of apartments not being rented because the landlords don’t want to keep up with upkeep, and mad they can’t raise the rents very high. But many get a tax credit due to them being empty

@JayThomas119186 @spencerpratt The answer to unaffordable rent is build more supply to absorb the demand. Prices fall when there are more units available to rent and landlords have to compete for renters. Rent control is not the answer, it will just disincentivize new apartment construction.

They're not freezing your rent, they're freezing your housing providers' income, while their expenses keep increasing. The point isn't to make your housing affordable, it's to make providing housing financially inviable, so government(s) can seize the unmanageable properties. @OpezIck @shipwreckedcrew Getting rid of 40k people will have a near short term recalibrating of housing supply and therefore price… Less dollars chasing the same goods = price drop. Basic market forces at work. Rates/new builds/long term effects are harder to predict.

@FumblingFilm @homesickbrando It hasn’t always been that way. I’ve been to many sold out concerts and found out later. Many industries had a moment and now rely on the FOMO craze that happened in the early 2010, and now people are programmed that way. And if it isn’t sold out day one, people trash the tour

@CliffBillings @homesickbrando Because it pretty much has always been that way. I've been going to concerts for over 15yrs, there's been several times where I found out about a mini-tour after the launch and tickets very hard to find.

@ScottKumka Only certain deluxe resorts get late night options. It’s frustrating as I go a few times a year and don’t always have a car (only when we drive down, which has been once). And magic kingdom, a lot of their dinner options close at 9 or earlier on my last trip.

This is one of the things I've never understood about Disney resorts. I'm staying at the Coronado tonight. The Magic Kingdom closes at 11. If I want to eat something after park closing I have to go off site and luckily I actually have a car. Out of luck with a bus.

@ropedropchris My question is, will there then be a busses going directly from Disney Springs to the parks themselves? Up until now, if you wanted to travel from Disney Springs to a park or vice versa, you had to take a bus to a resort, and then transfer over to one for a park or Springs.

omg are they checking this at every individual bus stop? this will surely become an operational nightmare

@magicnextdoor_ I thought they were going to do it when I was there but they didn’t. My only issue is resort hopping to get to reservations it makes it harder as when they were doing it friends couldn’t easily get to their reservations.

@NYC_DOT making Lafayette in Manhattan a single lane doesn’t understand the flow of traffic on that street. Shocked they are doing it. Will make it harder for the busses, taxis etc to use the road. It’s busy, yet let’s MAKE the congestion worse on the road.

@ShabazzStuart I don’t agree about the WiFi. My neighborhood we lose service all the time and rely on WiFi, it’s crazy how bad service is but most places it’s fine. But also for tourists, the WiFi is key to getting around and helping them out.

LinkNYC is more than a decade old and has never quite reached its full potential. IMO the use case for public WiFi is mostly gone with 5G...but the screens should have always shown debates, major public sporting events and real community news. Hoping this breaks the ice.
