@DuaneBratt Are UCP executive and comms staff that out of touch with the real world? This was such a bizarre strategy to watch unfold during QP.

@JSJamato One of two things is true: these people were either incompetent or complicit. Seeing the unredacted personal information of a former premier should have been an immediate red flag for these UCP members.

Alberta’s UCP caucus confirmed Tuesday its staff attended a Centurion Project meeting weeks ago, but officials say they were unaware that the data would become subject to allegations it was illegally obtained and publicly posted. #ableg edmonton.citynews.ca/video/2026/05/…

Apparently, your people attended too!

Alberta’s NDP Caucus has obtained video evidence that appears to show that a senior member of the United Conservative Party (UCP) party executive and a member of the UCP Caucus staff, people that are in the Premier’s inner circle, attended the April 16 online meeting of the Centurion Project. This meeting provided training to volunteers on how to use the separatists’ project database that is at the centre of this data breach of three million Albertans’ electoral data. The Alberta NDP Caucus obtained a recording of the Centurion Project’s April 16 online meeting, attended by 80 individuals. The attendee list and a video recording of the call identify that a ‘Rob Smith’ and an ‘Arundeep Sandhu’ were in attendance. The President of the UCP is named Rob Smith and the UCP Caucus Director of Stakeholder Relations is named Arundeep Sandhu. Alberta’s New Democrats have passed this recording on to the RCMP as they continue their investigation. This obtained video also shows Centurion Project members demonstrating how to use a database to search for personal information of Albertans by searching for the name and address of former Alberta Premier Jason Kenney. Jason Kenney’s personal information was shared on screen with all meeting attendees. This video appears to show the database that was built using the unauthorized electors list that was the subject of an injunction issued by the Court of King’s Bench on April 30, 2026. Premier Smith must immediately confirm whether Rob Smith and Arundeep Sandhu identified in the video are the same individuals that are associated with the UCP party and caucus. If these were the same UCP associates, the Premier must also explain: -Why were senior UCP officials attending the meeting? Were they directed to attend? -How she can claim, as recent as yesterday, that she only learned of this data breach from police statements on April 29-30, published almost two weeks after this meeting took place? -Why was it not reported or disclosed by any UCP or any government official to the RCMP and Elections Alberta that the Centurion Project appears to have unauthorized access to the electors list? -What actions, if any, she has taken to protect the privacy of Albertans? Albertans deserve answers and transparency from Premier Smith and this UCP government, now.

I agree 100% David. Throw out the petition. Didn't even get close to 750,000. What's the point?

@Isuckatpicking If we don't get 750,000, we might as well not have the Referendum.

Just this morning you said you would be explaining yourself. Now you put out a statement saying nothing. It has put a pall on the movement on what has been otherwise a great day. If it wasn't electoral lists you used, what was it? Enough BS. Clear the air. You are damaging the movement.
David Parker@david_parker

I am aware of the media reporting and the materials filed by Elections Alberta regarding the Centurion Project. The allegations that I personally received or distributed any unauthorized voter data are false. These issues involve active court proceedings and investigations. I will not be commenting further on the operations of the Centurion Project or the media speculation. We will let the legal process unfold.

This data breach involving Elections Alberta is extremely serious. It has significant implications for Albertans’ privacy and data, and raises many questions that require answers. That is why Alberta’s New Democrats are calling for an emergency meeting and the summoning of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Elections Alberta to testify before MLAs. We have written to the Chair of the Standing Committee on Legislative Offices calling for this emergency meeting, including our request for the CEO of Elections Alberta to appear and testify. Albertans deserve clear answers about what happened: when did Elections Alberta became aware of the breach, and why action appears to have been taken so late? Alberta’s New Democrats immediately alerted authorities upon learning about an alleged privacy breach on April 17. Journalists have now publicly reported they alerted Elections Alberta weeks earlier about these concerns. These delays in taking action to protect the privacy of Albertans must be fully explained. While we are limited in our scope and formal powers as legislators in opposition, Alberta’s New Democrats will continue to use every tool available to us to get to the bottom of this matter, and defend Albertans’ privacy and data concerns. As Leader of the Official Opposition, I am calling for the following actions: • The UCP government must reverse Bill 54’s provisions that came into effect in 2025 and weakened Elections Alberta’s investigative powers. • Elections Alberta must provide Albertans with a clear public update on the status of this breach. • The UCP government must provide a comprehensive update on this incident with actions they will be taking as a government, and actions Albertans should take to protect themselves from the potential misuse of their private information. Albertans deserve to feel confident that their personal information is protected, that our democratic institutions are acting swiftly and transparently, and that our elections are secure.

The full video of Chelsae (serious as a heart attack) Petrovic taking a victory lap on the UCP's changes to teachers qualifications is quite something. Including the outright condemnation of social justice. Gonna be watching to see what historical figures they don't celebrate.

@peteremcc Because access to old input is not the test. The test is whether the public is allowed to comment on the new maps that will be drawn. Old feedback from a different process may be background, but it is not consultation on a new proposal.

Nagwan won Calgary-Glenmore by just 42 votes (0.16%) in 2023. The majority report shoe-horns the entirety of Tsuut'ina Nation, stretching more than 50km west of Calgary, into her riding in an attempt to help her hold the seat. It's a blatant gerrymander to try to help the NDP.

@peteremcc The next panel isn't engaging in any public input. So, no, they won't be trusted. To be clear, the majority made a recommendation, including the judge. He also outlined in the addendum that if they were to increase the seats to 91, that they only restore the 2 ridings.
