My husband was the last person I was going to go on a date with before committing to becoming a spinster dog lady. I was beyond done with the dating scene. I told him I wasn't going to sleep with him for the foreseeable future. That I wanted to be a stay at home mom once I got married, even though at the time I owned my own successful business. That he'd have to be okay with working as many jobs as it took so I could raise our future kids. That I wanted to own a home before we brought kids into this world. That I wanted to raise them Christian. All this to scare him away because they were my non negotiables to commit my life to someone because I wasn't dating to date I was dating to marry & I don't believe in divorce. He more than agreed. Turned out he wanted that same things, which was super rare in SUPER progressive CA & even more progressive SF Bay Area. We were pretty much inseparable from our first date. There was also a 2 of hearts playing card I found on our walk when I asked God for a sign if this was true or to good to be true. I still have it to this day. He's my absolute best friend & the only person I want to do life with. God has plan, your soul mate is out there.
