@redraiderman1 Doesn’t matter whether gets a judge to side with him or not. His college football days are over as there is no way Tech leadership takes the risk of playing him now. University reputation is worth a great deal more than playing one player.

@BobbyAtTheSpa No, those horse were tiring and ocelli was running on. They correctly did not inquire a move like that in an 18 horse field at the G1 level.

Monday Derby Thought: Anyone else think this move by Ocelli on the stretch should have been looked at? Shifted down about a lane or 2 right into Commandment, Further Ado, and CW (who I felt was making a bid) Wouldn't effect the winner, but I think CW finishes 3rd. #KentuckyDerby

@emd4youuuuu I don’t agree as he needed to engage with Renegade to get the most out of his horse. If he stays in the middle of the track he may not get by. Horse fight and he needed it.

When tired horses are coming down the lane in dirt racing, the LAST thing you want, (as the least slowest running finisher-I'd say the fastest finisher but that would be a lie) is to collide with a slower moving animal This dip shit, did exactly that, PROACTIVELY

Jose Ortiz is SO STUPID Correctly goes left mid stretch then RETARDEDLY goes right handed, bumps with Irad late, knocks his horse to wrong lead, instantly loses all momentum, could've blown a sure win They all suck , all of them

@ByJohnLeuzzi @USATODAY @JohnDBrice1 This would be the main reason Soresby would hire a lawyer. His college football days are over so he needs to protect himself from criminal prosecution.

@jlkurtz Use your head, John. That isn’t going to happen. Tech is not going to play him even if they find a judge to side with Soresby. The B12 and NCAA will be all over Tech. Tech’s leadership won’t allow him to play.

@mark_coomes @goofonroof That same maiden had to qualify for the race. Every horse that makes it to the starting gate on the first Saturday in May, has a chance.

@goofonroof Maidens finishing a length out of first are as unformful as it gets, goof. 80-1. 50-1. Another 50-1. The inaugural Derby was in 1875. Four of the five biggest longshots hit since 2005. That’s not formful. That’s chaos.

The Derby is such a consistently unformful race that it’s starting to corrode its credibility. Produces too many winners and board-hitters that aren’t championship caliber*. It’s a luckfest. Luck of the draw, luck of the pace, luck of the trip. *—Yesterday’s winner excepted.

@DanIsett That is ESPN’s attempt to marginalize the B12. They have been systematically doing it for years. So I marginalize them by not watching their network.

No, ESPN has made it central to their coverage of Texas Tech, while never mentioning the NIL outlays at other schools. That's the point.

@JohnnyBets_KY I wouldn't compare him to Rich Strike. But going back to the last 10 Kentucky Derby winners, 6 of them never won another Grade 1 race. So Kentucky Derby winners are not necessarily Superstars

Something that is not being talked about enough. (I think) Why would Kessler agree to take this case if it was a truly as cut and dry as everyone makes it out to be? I know billable hours are undefeated but Kessler isn't really someone who's going to waste his own time. Especially on something this high profile that is equally hopeless.
Scarlet & Black Nation@gunsupnation

Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby has hired prominent attorney Jeffrey Kessler as he works to restore his college eligibility amid an ongoing NCAA investigation into alleged betting activity through a gambling app, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Pete Thamel. Sources say that if Sorsby and Kessler are unable to secure a path back to eligibility, entering the NFL Supplemental Draft could become the next option. The deadline to declare for the supplemental draft is June 30.

@DRFGrening Not surprising, I doubt Golden Tempo goes, he needs more distance not less. Keeping the Preakness two weeks after the Derby is the dumbest thing in modern horse racing.

Thinking only KY Derby winner Golden Tempo is considering the Preakness. A decision on his status unlikely til he returns to track. New names for Preakness include Chip Honcho, Cherokee Nation, Crupper, Iron Honor, Napoleon Solo, Silent Tactic, The Hell We Did, Talkin, Taj Mahal

@RossDellenger You folks that wrote the article don’t understand the difference between capital and equity. There is no equity in the conference so it isn’t a “private equity” deal.

QB Brendan Sorsby has retained attorney Jeffrey Kessler in his potential fight to regain eligibility, Kessler tells @YahooSports. Sorsby is hoping to reach a compromise with the NCAA. If not, he may pursue the legal path. Any legal challenge is independent of Texas Tech.

@MisterWreckEm I don’t think you understand the ramifications here. There is no way Tech is going to play the kid even if he gets an injunction. The NCAA and B12 will go after Tech. They aren’t taking that risk. The kid is done.

Adam Schefter@AdamSchefter

Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby, who is under NCAA investigation for making bets via a gambling app, has retained the noted lawyer Jeffrey Kessler to try to regain his college eligibility, sources tell me and @PeteThamel. If Sorsby and Kessler are unsuccessful in finding a path to eligibility, declaring for the NFL’s supplemental draft then would become an option. Sorsby would have until June 30 to declare for the supplemental draft.

@AdamSchefter @PeteThamel He is a great lawyer and will likely win an injunction. But there is a better than 50% chance ncaa ultimately prevails. Which would then lead to a 6 game suspension of the head coach. And it would be hanging over the team the whole year.

@AdamSchefter @PeteThamel Zero chance he gets eligible. Does the NCAA want to fight him or the other 20 players they already penalized? It is a no brainer and he will lose and if Tech plays him then they will be hit with heavy penalties.
