Are newer aircraft worse for the climate? ✈️ By tracking contrails with satellites, we see newer aircraft form detectable contrails with longer lifetimes more often (a warming effect) - but not because of their design, it is how they are used! More at cloudsandclimate.com/blog/newer_air…

We also see some exciting evidence that aircraft emitting less soot create shorter lived contrails - but this effect is hidden behind the changes in meteorology. Reducing particulate emissions from aircraft can help air quality and the climate!

It gets lots of things right, but not only is Europe is north of the Arctic circle in Oppenheimer, the clouds almost stretch into space! A film about nuclear weapons might be dark, but this is a little too dark for Europe. Find out more here: cloudsandclimate.com/blog/cloudsons…
