@ClownControl @Rothbard1776 What? Adjusting for inflation is the most accurate thing to do with price comparisons over different time periods

@RKelanic What's your alternative to a blockade if you want to bring Iran to the negotiating table in good faith?

With its ill-conceived Iran blockade, the Trump administration has forgotten a major lesson of the Cold War: spontaneous market adjustment beats central planning every time. There’s something very Soviet in Trump’s assumptions that economic activity is static and manageable. Trump’s plan: Blockade ➡️ Iran can’t export ➡️ Iran shuts in oil ➡️ cartoonish “explosion” ➡️Iran gives up. Every arrow is a place where the market can and will adapt to find creative solutions, albeit helped along by Iran’s policies, which could amplify — or dampen — adjustment depending how competent Iran’s bureaucrats are. But the number one rule of public policy is that people and markets always strategically adapt — always — to get around policy levers. In that sense, Trump’s model isn’t strategic in a game-theoretic sense because it doesn’t account for Iran’s likely attempts to compensate.

Because physical oil is going for over $200.00 a barrel in Asia but most people wouldn't know that because Trump's people have been suppressing the US oil futures market. So you are going to get oil shortages and price spikes since 13 million bpd of oil production has been offline for two months.
The ₿itcoin Therapist@TheBTCTherapist

Why is the U.S. exporting record levels of oil if I’m still paying 50% more at the pumps? Make it make sense.

If we see food prices and electric bills starting to rise over the summer, it likely won't be because of inflation, policy, or who the President is. It will have everything to do with water. We are possibly at the beginning of a megadrought cycle that could change America fast. Modern society was built during a relatively wet period, where water was abundant. But we could be returning to a very dry period like the drought of 1610. Prepare now. Stock food. Grow some if you can.

Democracy is zero sum. When Obama is arguing that black voters deserve special districts, he is arguing for white votes to count less. This is what makes Obama so disgusting. He makes whites feel guilty for not giving blacks extra privileges.
Gregory Travis@greg_travis

@jeremykauffman Obama didn't "calls it racist to not have black votes count for more than white votes" Why lie? Because that's what fascists do.

I'm getting two vaccines next week: Tdap and shingles. The Tdap because Kate's family has a newborn and we're visiting. Shingles for the potential longevity benefits. Data we're looking at: 1. Lower Alzheimer risk with vaccination in 1.6 million people, 8 year follow up, age 65+ + Tdap/Td: 30% lower relative risk + Shingles: 25% lower + Pneumococcal: 27% lower 2. Slower biological aging from shingles vaccination in 3,884 people, age 70+ Modest but significant improvements in inflammation, epigenetic and transcriptomic aging, and composite biological age. Molecular signals strongest within 3 years; inflammation benefits emerged later. 3. Better outcomes after breakthrough shingles in 38,092 people, age 50+, median 3.6y follow up In adults who developed shingles, prior vaccination was linked to: + 41% lower all-cause mortality + 21% lower MACE (MI, stroke, PE, sudden cardiac death) + 16% lower dementia risk Note: all three studies are observational. They show association, not causation. A randomized controlled trial on longevity outcomes is not feasible here as you can't randomize people to skip vaccines for years. The signal is consistent across independent large cohorts, which strengthens confidence, but the possibility of healthy vaccine bias exists in all three. People who stay current on vaccines tend to have better health behaviors overall. I find the mechanistic case for shingles specifically compelling. VZV reactivation drives neuro inflammation, and vaccination appears to blunt that cascade which is why we weight this evidence more heavily than the numbers alone.

Those who gave the COVID jab to children will be granted a special place in hell. My daughter was kicked out of school and banned from church for not getting injected with poison, and no one batted an eye. If you played along with those atrocities your soul is likely damned.
