@RBeansTx @WilliamShatner have you ever stopped to consider that the franchise has always been about being social warriors but the stuff you have Nostalgia for was just fighting a social battle that was before your time?

@WilliamShatner TNG and Enterprise, DS9, and Voyager focused on the franchise. The newer stuff focuses on being social warriors. Never once heard any of them talk about their feelings of being ghey or trying to promote a woman Jim Hadar or a super fem Klingon that’s into dudes.

Star Trek exists in more than one world. It exists in the fantasy of science fiction - weird and wonderful things that play unimaginable possibilities of exploration and human endeavor. But it also exists in the fantasy of human beings, the perfection of human beings, the exploration that human beings have made since the dawn of time and the continuing exploration - physically mentally and morally. It’s that aspect of Star Trek that I’ve always loved, to look at something physically that doesn’t exist now by these talented writers & designers but also to tackle the eternal human questions the agonies, the ecstasies. Star Trek should exist for a long time to come based on those truths. I for one would love to see its continuity. It’s with sorrow that I hear about the cancellation of the new Star Trek series.

This. For a franchise based on “to boldly go where no one has gone before” a lot of Trekkies seem to hate the future & new life & new civilizations, preferring only more of the past & what we’ve already seen. I’ll never understand it.

At this point, I almost don’t want any new Star Trek TV shows unless Paramount commits to 7 full seasons upfront. Sick and tired of their refusing to let these shows breathe, always demanding constant and immediate upticks in viewership.
