BREAKING: The first 300 Ridglan beagles touched grass for the first time today. They stepped outside and looked up at the sun. Many are playful. Some are scared. All are learning the world can be safe. Today, they are free.

This is shocking: the House Rules Committee just blocked a vote on stripping the Save Our Bacon Act from the farm bill. The SOB Act, buried deep in the farm bill, would wipe out state bans on pork from crated pigs, condemning millions to a lifetime in gestation crates. We were getting very close to having the votes to pass Rep. Luna’s bipartisan amendment to strip the SOB Act from the bill on the floor of the House. Then pork industry lobbyists got to work. Behind closed doors, they got Rules Committee leadership to stop a vote entirely and protect the SOB Act from the scrutiny it can’t survive. The only option now is to kill the whole rotten farm bill. Please call your representatives at (202) 225-3121 and tell them to vote NO.

Here are the 5 things that changed my mind: Charging - I thought gas stations were better. I was wrong. Waking up every morning to a “full tank” is the single best benefit of ownership. No more stops in the rain or snow. It’s a total game-changer. One-Pedal Driving - I didn't think braking could be improved. Wrong again. Regenerative braking is so intuitive that I almost never touch the physical brake pedal. Going back to a two-pedal internal combustion engine feels clunky now. Full Self-Driving (FSD) - I said I’d never let a computer drive for me. Now? I’m convinced it drives better than I do. The improvements this year have been mind-blowing. This tech is going to provide massive mobility for the elderly and disabled. The Screen vs. Buttons - I used to tell friends, "I like knobs and buttons." I laugh at that now. Thinking I need physical buttons is like missing the BlackBerry keyboard. The touch interface is intuitive, clean, and constantly improving. Performance - I knew it would be fast, but it’s absurd. It replaced a high-end German sports car, and the Tesla handles and accelerates significantly better while still being a practical family vehicle. Ignorance was bliss because it made me feel smart, but day-to-day ownership of the Model Y proved me wrong. If you're on the fence, the experience is likely much different from what you imagine.”

JUST IN: The FDA is ending inhumane testing on beagles, chimpanzees, and other animals. This is a win for animals, a win for science, and a win for common sense. For too long, defenseless, voiceless animals have suffered in government labs while “science” was used as an excuse for animal cruelty. This is why we introduced legislation like the PAAW Act to stop the NIH from funding research causing significant pain or distress to dogs and cats. This is also why we secured victories in the NDAA stopping the DoW from conducting painful or unnecessary testing on cats, dogs, and other animals. Science has moved forward. Our policies should follow.
