The problem with that is there’s a section of the population who don’t have a clue about politics or current affairs. I know people who never watch the news and wouldn’t be able to tell you the name of the Prime Minister let alone their local MP. So forcing them to vote would give an inaccurate representation.

Andy Burnham wants to bring in compulsory voting. He wants to fine anyone who doesn't vote. Wow I totally agree with him....

When a politician tells you they're not going to call an election, they're calling an election. He's got 6 weeks to carry on with his popularity building tour whilst parliament is in recess. He'll call it as soon as it finishes. He then has another 60 days to self promote without the scrutiny of PMQs on the election campaign. He knows he won't get the landslide of 2024, he doesn't need it. He just needs his own mandate and he's going to bet on having enough of a majority to get it.

Good news for pensioners across our country. The government has confirmed that if the state pension is your only source of income, you will not pay income tax. Along with the triple lock, that means 12 million pensioners will see their income rise by up to £470 this year alone.

I’m so pleased that @AndyBurnham is using Range Rovers instead of the Audis that Kier has been using. In my opinion, the entire Civil Service should use British-built cars wherever practical. There are so many cars built in the UK so why not support UK jobs by mandating this for all police, ambulance and government vehicles! 👍
