I’m a pensioner. So I benefit from the triple lock. I get the full state pension. Which is £965 every four weeks; so equivalent to £1045 a month. I get the full amount because I have 50 years of working and paying my stamp and income tax. I get no other pension. It’s not luxury!

I get the tactical flexibility, but if you’re signing ( at Leverkusen ) one of the best attacking right-backs in Europe, surely the plan should be to actually use him there? NO? Am I going mad?

Incentives matter. Gary admitted on Pier’s Morgan that he made around £2m as a trader. This may seem like a lot of money, but it’s not retirement money on the lifestyle he will maintain. Gary needs to sell books and awareness. He’s spotted a vulnerability with a particular group so he sells emotional based economics. It isn’t actually economics, it’s whinging and victim culture. His answers come down to socialism, but socialism harms the people he claims to want to help. Gary is wrong. Don’t be a Gary.

The reason the minimum wage hasn’t kept up with inflation is because the rich don’t WANT it to. Keeping wages low and desperation high keeps workers compliant. It’s not a coincidence. It’s a STRATEGY.

@nmlinguaphile There’s a balance. Capital has gravity. When you have it, it’s easier to accumulate more. Eventually inequality gets out of hand. Most people supporting capitalism have no capital. They’re labour working for those that do.

@RockChartrand Most people agree meritocracy is a good idea. But it’s not necessarily fair. On the whole smarter people are more skilled and better paid. If you’re not one of them you’re probably less well off. Maybe the age of Ai will be a leveller
