@Trey_Explainer At this point, an hour in, this has divulged into a whole other thing. I can’t afford myself to respond to everything. I stand by what I wrote, and the concerns raised. Trey disagrees with me. That’s no problem. I look forward to his next video all the same.

@Trey_Explainer You have both done wrong here though. A lot of people can’t tell anymore and are very paranoid. This person appears to just have given in to that paranoia. Chastising them and posting this here, as someone who strives to be an educator, is in as poor form as their reaction.

@MASTER_EYEPOP @Trey_Explainer We’re not in a binary situation with genAI anymore. I’m glad young people lean towards disliking AI for “art” but it’s getting scarily difficult to deal with it. This isn’t even really about AI, this is just about how we treat and talk about people who don’t know.

We don’t know this person, they could be 12 they could be 52. What I thought was wrong was this whole thing going on here. The sentiments I am reading

@bxllberto @Trey_Explainer That’s true but the issue I raised wasn’t in the response from Trey, but more so everything going around this conversation here like saying people should just get better at spotting AI or keep their mouth shut.

@MASTER_EYEPOP @Trey_Explainer People double down on assumptions all the time. I’m all for a heavier hand if need be but nuance, patience and understanding why someone would freak out like that.

Yr not being kind & considerate here, this attitude only creates the wriggle room for more bullshit like that. A heavier hand was needed, clearly.

@stellerjob @Trey_Explainer Forgive me but English is a mess sometimes for me, but the words I am looking for are. Crude? Brash? Careless? It’s causing a lot of people to be angry over something, that obviously wasn’t the intention. It could have blown by if two people had just waited a little.

@stellerjob @Trey_Explainer Thank you for seeing my angle and yes, I do see the harm. I am an artist myself, in an industry which sadly is embracing a lot of genAI. However, this person removed the comment once they had gotten Trey’s reply. They were corrected, they understood, and took it back.

@Trey_Explainer I know you didn’t and that you mean well, to set things right. But you are looked up to, you have a following. When you put things out like this, people will dogpile. As they are, for example, currently doing to me.

@CminorMinder Like at no point did I insult this particular guy’s intelligence or tell people to harass them or whatever. I politely corrected him and then in a separate reply vented about separate similar incidents with art in other videos. I think it’s important to clear up misinformation

@Trey_Explainer I did not claim that, that was someone else. I don’t mean you any ill, I've been watching you since 2015 and admired your body of work. Which is all the more reason why I felt motivated to post that.

@CminorMinder Not making a court fool. My post is setting the record straight and correcting a piece of misinformation. Never called this person a moron or whatever else you’re claiming I did.

@Trey_Explainer @stellerjob Oh no, the person I responded to said that. Art is personal to the artist so I don’t disagree at all with calling it insulting. It was warranted. I also don’t mean any of this conversation ill, sentiments and notions on display here aren’t making good of this though.

@CminorMinder @stellerjob Never called him a moron. All I did was correct him and said his accusation was not correct and insulting to the real artists. Which I think was totally warranted. Don’t false accuse people of things. Sounds pretty good to me.
