My strong feelings about CBB tourney expansion are not about initial number, but which teams must “play in” to eventual 64-team bracket. ZERO teams that earn an AQ should have to “play in.” If powers-that-be want more P5 teams, they should battle it out as at-large 10-13 seeds.

This may be statistically accurate, but it is missing important context. These D1s are not reaching out to schedule top non-D1 teams. I might have missed them, but I did not see any @NESCAC , @uaa_sports , or @wiacsports schools on the @espn score summary page…

Last night, MBB non-D1’s went 0-15 vs D1’s losing by an average of 41.6ppg (eerily similar to the 41.9 margin from the night before). That’s now 1-76 over the first 2 days of the season. 21 more of these tonight. O/U on a non-D1 win tonight is 0.5. I’ll take the under.

St. Louis MBB will have HEAVY New York & New England ties with @JoshSchertzSLU bringing @ZakBoisvert, @Coach_Tone1, & @Phil4G out there. Should be interesting to see if/how that roster shifts over the first few years. I am a fan of all three guys & wish them loads of success.

I do not typically enjoy being wrong, but this is an exception to the rule. UConn deserved to win and found a way to do so decisively, regardless of foul trouble in their front court. Back-to-Back. So impressive.

Despite the 9:20pm start time, I am excited to see UConn vs Purdue for the ‘24 title. Hate to focus on officiating, but I think the winner may simply be the team whose starting center avoids getting two fouls first. Would not dare bet against UConn with how they’ve been playing!

@bballcoachdrew I feel exactly the same way, Drew. I admit my bias, but that was hard to watch. Wildly inconsistent. It’s a big moment and the three in stripes get swept up in it too. Second half should be interesting.
