I just finished an offensive line manual I wish I had early in my career. Not more plays. Not more scheme. Just a simple system: – Indy – Technique – Combos – Fixes – Friday adjustments No fluff. Comment “OL” and I’ll send it.

I used to script my first 10–15 plays just to have plays ready. But I didn’t really know what I was trying to learn. So the game would start and it felt like: call → react call → react No real direction. What changed for me was simple: I started scripting to get answers. •How are they fitting the run? •How do they adjust to motion? •Who’s making the tackles? Now those first 10–15 plays actually tell me something. And that’s what drives everything after. Script to learn. Not just to call.

Coaches STOP watching film looking for plays. You will get way better when u only watch one thing: How defenses fit the run. Every clip you should ask: •Who sets the edge? •Where is the spill player? •Who is the force player? •How do they adjust to motion? That’s it. Because once you know how they fit the run… You know: •where the ball should go •how to create leverage •what formations will stress them •what they can’t handle consistently Film gets way easier when u stop watching everything… …and start watching one thing with purpose. Clarity > volume.

O-Line Blunt Drill - Drill Purpose and Utility: This drill is designed to simulate backside gap schemes and can be performed with minimal equipment or defenders. - Gap Responsibility and Squeezing: Players, specifically the tackle, must secure the B gap by squeezing down and holding their spot as the guard pulls. - The Blunt Technique: Rather than a traditional step hinge, the "blunt" involves squeezing down and then reacting to a defender's movement to engage. - Hand Usage and Anchoring: When engaging a defender, players should use a two-handed punch, similar to techniques used in drop-back pass protection, to anchor down and be firm with the blunt. - Reaction to Fold Blocks: The drill also addresses fold blocks against 3-4 fronts, where the center must feel the fold, pop up, and be violent when engaging the defender. Example DL EDD structure. Most indy periods don’t have a clear plan — this is one way to organize it:
