Thank you to Jamie Sullivan @WA_Athletics for the hospitality this weekend ⛹️‍♂️. It was a 1st class event w tons of talent at a 1st class facility. College coaches from all levels were there evaluating. 🏀👊 Some things of note 📝: 1️⃣ You will see fewer offers📉 to the class of 27 w the 5th year legislation looming. Many schools will do their best to retain their true sr’s and thus many talented prep post grads and sr’s will be available. Trickle down is real. 2️⃣ If you are thinking about attending a prep school and you can reclass from 27 to 28 do it. You will need the flexibility. Options are limited especially for full rides. Trust the process. 3️⃣ The schools that really evaluate and prioritize recruits will get ahead, but it may be 2 years down the road. For most Low Major and Mid Majors this time is more for evaluating and organizing. The players that will impact your program now may not think you are sexy enough. So get them when they portal after they make the wrong decision. Play the long game. That means detailed evals and relationship building never stops. 4️⃣ Players once you are identified you will know when you are really being recruited. Understand when you are prioritized and if it’s a committable offer. 5️⃣ Players keep the main thing the main thing. Keep improving and growing and being coachable. CJ Johnson was impressive with his athleticism around the rim and ability to finish through contact. At 6’4” he moves well in transition and looks to get the ball to the rim as quick as possible for easy buckets. He is able to get downhill consistently with his craftiness.

Tip for parents on college visits. One thing coaches and leaders of organizations look for when recruiting high potential individuals is their ability to communicate.
