During Film study, learning the habits of the QB are essential. Study him, study him and then study him some more. QBs are prone to tendencies because they are under a lot of pressure. Getting a good read on the QB can make everything else easy to figure out.

The five mental challenges of sports: 1. Pushing through discomfort. 2. Blocking out distractions. 3. Staying poised under pressure. 4. Thinking critically to solve problems. 5. Managing your ego and working with others. Work hard to improve in all of these areas!

Being the real you is better for your mental health than being who you think people want you to be.

Is it important for a coach to be in good shape?

This isn’t meant to be a judgmental question. Over the past four years I became a dad, moved to Texas, and took on a bunch of football related projects that kept me busy. I’ve definitely neglected my own health in the process. In shape doesn’t make you a good coach, out of shape doesn’t make you a bad coach. Just like anything, it’s a craft you need to master over years of focused effort. With that being said, I’m trying to do a better job prioritizing my health this year. I heard a coach say, “Nothing will wreck your health like coaching.” I hate that’s a reality for so many coaches I talk to.
