This clip continues to be🔥! Let the ball get deep in all situations. Catch it with the barrel. Don’t go get it, catch it.

The Atlanta Braves made it to the World Series and lost in 1991 (a heartbreaker in the best series ever) and 1992. After the game 6 World Series-clinching victory in 1995, a reporter asked Bobby Cox, "What was the difference this time, you came so close before?" He replied, "We could have won the ones we lost and we could have lost tonight. It's just the flip of a coin." I always thought that quote pretty much sums up baseball. We could have won the ones we lost and lost the ones we won. It's the one sport where you can do pretty much everything right and it still not work out - or you can not do things all that well and still have it work in your favor. A perfect pitch can still get a hit. A well hit ball can be inches one way or the other from either a double or a double play. A hard hit ball can be an out, a little dribbler can be an infield single. It's just the way the Great American Pastime works. Of all sports, it's the most like life in that it takes a combination of skill and opportune randomness to succeed. As a Braves fan, Cox was my all-time favorite manger. He knew how to get the most out of his players. And other than perhaps Billy Martin, he was the best ever at working over the umps. RIP, Bobby Cox.

A lot of coaches talk about Barry Bonds’ mechanics. Very few talk about: - his mind - his discipline - his pitch selection - his hand-eye coordination - his elite vision - his understanding of hitting That’s where a lot of his greatness really came from.

Born in Oklahoma and raised in California’s Central Valley agricultural region, Bobby Cox spent the second half of his life in Atlanta and became a cigar-smoking, umpire-berating Southern sports icon during 25 seasons as Braves manager and five as GM. nytimes.com/athletic/36781…

AROUND THE WORLD 🌎⚾️ 5 balls.5 locations. One focus: 👉 Flight + direction. Using the MAV mats, I move around the hitter tossing each ball to a different zone. The goal isn’t mechanics today… It’s learning how to:👉 Control ball flight👉 Match direction to location👉 Adjust without panicking👉 Stay athletic through contact Middle-away? Stay through it.Inside? Different flight.Deep? Different feel.Out front? Different intent. This is where hitters start learning how to actually control the barrel instead of just “working on mechanics. Some days are mechanics. Some days are movement. Today was about producing the right flight from every zone. Train with an expert, not an influencer.

Saw a lot of HS baseball games this season. Notes: 1. Get in the WEIGHT ROOM. 2. If a pitcher doesn’t have elite velo, it’s a heavy diet of off speed called from dugout. 3. Baseball IQ is extremely low. 4. Lack of team chemistry. 5. Zero synergy from orgs & HS staffs.

Fathers, what will your children say about the home they grew up in when they get older? What will they say about your marriage? About their childhood under your fatherhood? You get only get one shot at family life. There are no do-overs. You get roughly 18 years to train your children. After that, the rule "unsolicited advice is rarely taken," kicks in. Make the most of the time you have with your kids because it flies by.

@CoachRobStacy4 This season I led the handshake line and my assistants concluded it. Thought it went well. Maybe set a tone of being congratulatory even when frustrated and disappointed.

In this era of sports why has the post game hand shake line turned into player trash talk & where coaches air their grievances… I’ll gladly be in the minority for this concept but I believe it’s over rated. Circa 2020-21 the no hand shake team hat tip was something I felt

Don't let anyone tell you the 2-strike approach is dead. Enjoy this absolute masterclass from Mauricio Dubon. After two whiffs on 97 mph fastballs he got a third. He dropped the leg kick, spread out, no stride and smoked a base clearing triple to right field.

Paul's emphasis tends to be on the works of Christ that are the basis/foundation for both our justification and sanctification (and our glorification even!). But then he'll also tell us that we need to "establish the law," and not make void the law through faith (Rom 3:31). But James' focus tends to be on how even though we are justified by faith alone, we are not justified by a faith that is alone. James' focus is on our justification that is NOT by a faith that is alone. Hence, James' claim that a "man is justified by works and not by faith alone" (Jms 2:24). In fact, I would even go so far as to translate this verse as: "A man is justified by works and not by a faith that is alone." Just like the WCF puts it in its section dealing with justification by faith alone. The Confession is clear that while we are justified by faith alone, we are not justified by a faith that is alone. IOW, the faith that justifies us will bear fruit for salvation. And I would argue that both Paul and James understood the necessity of a "final justification." Not a final justification that is based on any human merits, but only on the merits of the Christ Himself. And a final justification that will be PUBLIC and made known to the whole world, at the Final Judgment. So, whereas our initial justification by faith alone was more of a private matter, and was mainly between God and those who believe in His Son; our final justification will be a public matter, and will be declared to the whole entire world, at the Final Judgment. And it will probably be a CORPORATE judgment as well, and not an individual judgment on a person-by-person basis. This is when the Christ will declare publicly that His "sheople" are finally vindicated and finally set-apart from all the goats who will be finally condemned for their wicked unbelief.

Paul’s “good works” = James’ “works” ✅The fruit of true faith (obedience, love, mercy). Paul’s “works of the law” ≠ (good) works ❌Trying to earn salvation through old covenant rules and rituals. Paul: You’re not justified by works of law, but by faith in Christ. ✅ James: You’re faith in Christ is not vindicated without (good) works. ✅ Same gospel. Different dangers. Perfect harmony.

If you’re coaching pitchers, this adjustment from Gerrit Cole is worth paying attention to. He went to an overhead glove during rehab. His feedback was simple. It felt good. He liked the rhythm. It helped things line up. That matters. If you look across his career, you can see his hands working up with the leg lift. That’s a pattern you’ll see a lot with more vertical pitchers in how they use their hands. Now it just shows up a little differently. For some pitchers, that upward movement helps everything sync up. But it’s not something you just give to everyone. A more horizontal mover might still like it, but they usually have to adjust other pieces to make it work. It’s not about the move. It’s about whether it actually fits how the pitcher organizes movement.

LHP’s listen to this! I was fortunate to have one of the same pitching coaches as Pettitte in the minor leagues. We had countless conversations about Pettitte and why he was so GOOD at picking guys off. It’s an art that every young LHP SHOULD learn.
