Rick Pitino was asked what stops people from being great. His answer was one word. "Ego stops greatness. I call it edging greatness out." "In a spiritual sense, ego is edging God out. But ego is edging greatness out." And he made a key distinction: "I'm not talking about confidence. You have to be a confident person." "But ego really gets you to where you think you've arrived. You think you know it all. You stop learning. You stop listening." That's the trap. Confidence keeps you hungry. Ego convinces you that you've already made it. You lose your hunger and humility. "Learning and listening are important for great leaders. Great leaders have to listen and they have to continue to learn and surround themselves with people that are better than them." EGO = Edging Greatness Out The moment you think you've arrived is the moment you stop growing. Stay confident. Stay humble. Never stop learning. (🎥@LewisHowes )

Teaching children how the world actually works is one of the most important responsibilities we have Not just math Not just history But how the mind shapes reality Teaching them the universal laws. Teaching them the power of the subconscious mind. Teaching them what’s in the food they eat and the water they drink. Teaching them awareness, observation, and responsibility for their own thoughts. Teaching them that the mind is a garden Your thoughts are the seeds Your actions are the water Your emotions are the sunlight And what grows in your life depends entirely on what you plant Plant fear ➡️ fear grows Plant confidence ➡️ confidence grows Plant vision ➡️ opportunity grows Children should know this early Because six words can change a life You become what you think about And another truth most people learn too late Life is a boomerang What you think What you say What you do All of it comes back But there’s something even deeper Children naturally have strong intuition They can feel truth instinctively When they’re young, they’re still close to the veil before years of conditioning dull that inner compass If we teach them to trust their intuition early, before the world programs them out of it… they grow up knowing how to read energy, how to question what they’re told, and how to think for themselves In my opinion, this might be one of the most important teachings a child can receive Because once a child understands how their mind shapes their world… they stop drifting through life and start creating it

I played for this man for 3 years. He came to my wedding and traveled to watch me play in the big leagues many times. He gave me a D1 scholarship when no one else wanted a 5-11 175lb catcher from Florida. He meant more to me than any other coach I’ve ever played for, and that is saying a lot. If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have had the mental toughness, mentality, or grit this game demands of you in order to play at this baseballs highest level. I have a quote I like to tell my players. “If you don’t like it, play better.” The game of baseball is strictly merit based. You have to earn it. Even at the youth level. Ages 12 and below, I’m good with everyone playing and learning the game. Above that age, then you have to earn your spot. There is a point where the player has to choice to work for it, or not. Puberty is the time that it generally happens in my opinion. As a side note, if your kid isn’t the best player when he’s 12, don’t panic. Development takes time, and once puberty hits, the physical change happens quick. RIP Coach Robe.

Every parent, coach and player should listen to this. Maybe listen twice just to let it sink in.

I am not ashamed of my journey. My life will be a testimony. But if I could offer a word of advice to any freshman, sophomore or junior athlete in high school it would be to just listen bro. All them adults in your life not just talking to talk. They been here longer. They done bumped they head already. They trying to save you from doing the same thing. Do not make the mistake of thinking your talent alone is enough. It’s not. Talent open doors. Character and grades keep you there. And if you already messed up, if your GPA not where it should be, if your name been in rooms for the wrong reasons… don’t quit. Keep digging. You can climb out the hole the same way you dug it. Class of 29, 28 and 27 hear me. Take your grades serious.
Choose who you hang around wisely.
Protect your name. Word spreads fast if you a crash out.
Respect authority. Nobody riding for you like your parents and coaches.
Work hard when nobody clapping. Do not wait until senior year to lock in. That GPA do not lie. I’m still figuring it out myself. I’m struggling but I know God got me. Be intentional.
Lock in early. Pray. Show up ready to work. I’m learning the hard way that my future is being built in the small decisions I make today. Start now.
