@alissambaker Exactly this! The advice and consent power is one of the many great checks and balances that prevents a true imperial presidency. Truly qualified individuals should have no problem getting confirmed.

The Senate isn't a rubber stamp & doesn't serve at the pleasure of the President. Threats to primary those who don't kowtow simply undermine the nominees credibility. Capable & qualified nominees make it through on their merits not because of threats. politico.com/live-updates/2…
