Players: Unless you are pitching or catching there should be no one sitting down in the dugout. Everyone up, cheering the boys on, exuding positive energy! The best teams I've ever coached or played on had the best dugout energy. They were always chirping, moving, picking each other up. The coach should never have to tell you to get up or say, "Let me hear ya." If you're not playing stop sulking and be a good teammate. Trust me, your coach sees you feeling bad for yourself and being selfish. All you're doing is getting further away from the lineup. If you want to get in be engaged, help the squad, warm someone up. It will get noticed! You're playing baseball! Have fun! Be loud! Bring energy!

Went to a HS game yesterday. Had a D1 coach come meet me there to watch a kid. During the game, the team’s catcher would sprint to his position every inning. He’s an underclassman, the D1 coach wasn’t there for him, he is now on that coaches radar. Some things preached at every level - ▪️sprint to your spot between innings ▪️show off your arm in between innings ▪️serious throws in the INF/OF and as a catcher You can be 0-3 and still make an impression

This is the still the craziest thing I’ve ever seen on a baseball diamond.

High IQ play. Winning run was on 3rd base in extra innings. Fly ball certainly deep enough to win the game. Drew Gilbert catches the ball as low as he possibly can in hopes of getting the runner to leave the base early. Didn’t work. But worth a shot.

High school teams play 3 single games a week… Then summer tournaments hit— 6 games in 3 days. Sometimes 3 in one day. And we wonder why arms break down? Makes no sense… But yes I know it’s about $$$.
