Tournament directors… can we start using better baseballs?
I’m not calling out any specific event, but the quality of the baseballs at some 15U/16U tournaments has really gone downhill.
Teams are paying premium entry fees. The baseballs should match

@Coachjpacheco One of the big issues is they talk a big game and for players who they still have as clients, they help them. The problem is when the players stop performing, they drop them because they never cared about them more than the money in the first place!

The sad reality for most stud high school players is that their advisor with a big company only sees them as a dollar sign. They will have you change where you train even when that facility helped you get to where you are. Then they’ll drop you when performance drops.

27 of 54 outs during the all star game were strikeouts.
Honestly to me this is the biggest issue with our game.
The product at the plate has been stunted due to over importance of analytical data.

@CoachSwit Families can always explore. What I don’t like is if players sneak play for another team on our off weekend. Just be honest with your travel coach.

There are no official rules against coaches contacting travel players about playing for them next season.
Yet so many coaches get upset when another program reaches out.
No program owns a player. If families love what you’re building, they’ll stay.

ASU is 1 of 8 with 15+ picks in the last 2 years. 5 made the CWS. All hosted a regional except ASU & OU. All made a Super except ASU & FSU.

Arizona State had 10 MLB Draft picks (7 pitchers!) this year (see below), the third most among all college teams, behind Georgia (13) and Arkansas (10). ASU's two-year total (19) was also behind only Arkansas (23) and Georgia (23). Willie Bloomquist is getting plenty of talent.

BREAKING: Arizona State RHP Wyatt Halvorson is signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers as an undrafted free agent, per @JacobRudner.
Halvorson tossed 6.2 scoreless innings for ASU in 2026 before undergoing Tommy John surgery.
The deal is pending a physical.

It is absolutely ridiculous to have the @MLB HR Derby on Netflix. I’m out of town for work and went to a sports bar with literally dozens of TVs and they don’t have it on cuz it’s on Netflix! So here I am watching it on my phone on mute at a damn sports bar. Do better.

Camp et al. tracked 1,633 sliding injuries (2011-2015), pre-sliding mitt. Head-first slides produced more hand and finger injuries — nearly a third needed surgery. Sliding mitts may have closed that gap, but the data predates them.

Everyone wants to start a travel baseball team. That’s the problem. Too many teams. Too many average rosters. Too many kids told they’re “elite.” Fewer, stronger teams would develop players a whole lot better.
