@MitchSchwartz71 B-gap defender: no gallop. Too many variables for how that guy plays to time it and target it.
2 or 2i: gallop unless it’s a big skin/slant operation.
*if a guy stinks at it, don’t make him do it.

Curious to hear from some OL people what you think of the Gallop technique? Especially on gap scheme double teams for the outside guy (T in deuce, G in ace)

AL avg 3.21 YPC in SEC play last season. Don’t think they’re the representative you’re looking for.
Oregon OL was badass.
If your point is run twist are making OL have to process more, that’s true..definitely more action at the LOS these days. I would also say it’s on OL coaches to build confidence vs movement and provide the solutions so players can still play fast. OBVIOUSLY there are less “circle drill” reps where dude are just running a board drill. That being said, players are as freaky as they’ve ever been (post steroid era) and many of the right ones want to smash people still. On coaches to give them the confidence and solutions vs movement.
English

I’ll give you an example. I remember watching Alabama’s OL vs Indiana this year. And they ran that N/T or T/N to perfection vs run game. They picked off Bama’s guard/center 3 or 4 times throughout that game and got a couple TFLs off it
Fast forward and when Oregon played Indiana, there was a couple snaps where Oregon’s Center Poncho was visibly paranoid he was going to get picked. He was barley getting into the Nose and then peaking to both sides to see if he was going to get picked
If you asked poncho if the threat of Indiana’s stunt game made him a little less physical off the ball, I’d bet a lot of money the answer is yes, because
I could tell he was on tape

For the folks who ask “why is Offensive Line play not as physical anymore?”
This is a huge reason why. Presnap stemming, slanting, twists, etc are at an all time high. It makes OL hesitant and question their rules and it’s VERY hard to be physical when you can’t play 100% speed
Brian Baldinger@BaldyNFL
.@GeorgiaFootball @AlabamaFTBL question to all defensive lineman and DEF LINE COACHES; why don't more teams "stem" late to disrupt the offenses communication the way the #Dawgs do? #BaldysBreakdowns
English

If the DL is ferocious and the OL is physical and athletic, to me it can be a difference make. Particularly if the DL two-gaps. If the DL is ferocious and the OL is just mediocre then it won’t matter. If the DL is soft and the OL is physical and are ruthless then it’s really good

@CoachBlake41 I agree with you in principle that it’s not the same at all… but I think there’s a bunch of coaches that have missed all of those things because of coaching. I know I have unfortunately. But ya not the same as military
