@Beowulf_Raider The ship travelled south because we’re at the end of the safe sailing season. Even though it has a reinforced hull, it’s a light icebreaker built for summer and fall conditions in medium first‑year ice. Because of the timing, going through the Northwest Passage wasn’t possible.

The CCGS Naalak Nappaaluk has officially transited the Panama Canal! 🚢
After a crew change in #Panama, the 87.9 m vessel now sails into the Caribbean Sea, one step closer to her new home in Dartmouth, #NovaScotia.
