Last month, the CCGS Jean Goodwill and the HMCS Frédérick Rolette partnered up for an icebreaking exercise in the Northumberland Strait. Icebreaking and escort operations ensure marine traffic continues to move safely all winter long.

@Beowulf_Raider The ship travelled south because we’re at the end of the safe sailing season. Even though it has a reinforced hull, it’s a light icebreaker built for summer and fall conditions in medium first‑year ice. Because of the timing, going through the Northwest Passage wasn’t possible.

The CCGS Naalak Nappaaluk has officially transited the Panama Canal! 🚢 After a crew change in #Panama, the 87.9 m vessel now sails into the Caribbean Sea, one step closer to her new home in Dartmouth, #NovaScotia.

@laurie_naugle The vessel is passing through the Caribbean Sea simply because it is transiting from British Columbia to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

The Min Yachta, a former fishing vessel, was sent for recycling, while the catamaran Vaka was deconstructed and disposed. Vessel owners are responsible for taking the appropriate measures to address any risks or hazards posed by their vessel.

We recently removed two hazardous vessels in poor condition from Cowichan Bay, #BritishColumbia, using authorities under the Wrecked, Abandoned or Hazardous Vessels Act.
