@charlesmurray @ThinkingUSD I tried FSD a couple of times when Tesla made it available as a demo. A number of people recommend it. Yours tipped the balance. I bought it yesterday.

@KatieMiller IFF there are no subsidies. That includes grid tie-in at retail prices. And adoption is voluntary.

@TheDisproof Do you understand the life cycle of coral reefs? A reef is the accumulated deposits of the coral polyps. Only the top layer is alive. There are many species of coral polyps, each adapted to different conditions. The reef bleaches when conditions change. This is normal.

2) She claims reefs are doing well then ignores that in 2025 was the worst bleaching event on record (see right image), her graph leaves this off. Only a few fast growing species recovered pre 2025 so her claim is like saying "but grass grew after we cut down the rainforest".

A mega thread debunking (fossil fuel promoter) Lucy Biggers claims one by one: 1) She claims Polar bears are thriving when the latest IUCN survey (right image) shows more sub populations in decline than rising. Her source is the GWPF, a fossil fuel lobby group.

@PostelGert @jk_rowling Including human beings. To an herbivore, all other animals are either competitors or potential predators. If the radical vegans get their way, there will be no other animals on this planet. And then they will start on each other.

I find it interesting that many of the same people who profess to almost worship the self organizing system that is an ecology positively hate the self organizing system that is a market economy. open.substack.com/pub/bariweiss/…

My observation is that very many women genuinely do not have an intuitive sense of how much stronger men are than women, because men have not used their strength against them &, when playing, hold back their strength. 1/

@jk_rowling @happypositive0 I suspect that either the English language does not have the words, or they are not in common use, to express the finer distinctions between the feelings that many of us lump together under the word “love”.

I say ‘I love you’ a lot, to my husband, my kids and my close friends, but I find expressing ‘love’ for total strangers dubious. Life has taught me there’s a correlation between those who claim to love humanity in the round, which is easy to claim and signals the speaker’s virtue, and a lack of empathy and kindness when it comes to interacting with real, messy, imperfect individual humans, which we all are.

I agree , though where do you get cheap energy from ?! There is only natural gas and oil and coal ! None of these are available in enough volume nor price in continental Europe ! Russian pipelined gas is the cheapest ready available source of cheap energy for European industry , the rest is too expensive !

@JonN64x @wpleary @gunsnrosesgirl3 The East Asian population is crashing. South America is not far behind. South Asia is growing more slowly. So is Africa. I figure it’s urbanization. Cities have always been population sinks. They only grow by people moving in from the countryside.

@CockleburrSoft @wpleary @gunsnrosesgirl3 I disagree re world population number. This might work in a very civilised non-corrupt nation, but in Africa with rapid pop. rise environment is thoroughly trashed with raw sewage pouring into rivers due to overburdened and unmaintained sewage farms. This pollutes the coasts, etc

@JonN64x @wpleary @gunsnrosesgirl3 The Earth could easily support 12 billion people at 20th century American levels of comfort indefinitely. Once people are comfortably above subsistence level, they start to care more about their environment. The humane way to improve it is to get most people above that level.

@CockleburrSoft @wpleary @gunsnrosesgirl3 Apart from cholesterol, the issues are still valid. Especially pollution, but it's being tackled. Overpopulation still there, 9 billion people not going away. Only depopulation that is occuring is with whites due to contraception and increasing wealth. Resources: not sure.
