@ibxtoycat Who pays for easy convenience and updates on PC? Literally just download prism launcher and install anything you want with automatic updates. Every mod maker is free to lock their mods behind a paywall. Most people will not pay for it though. How does the creator of sodium do it?

btw, one of the most ridiculous marketplace policies is charging the same amount for a map in USD or GBP $9.99 is already insane for a map, but in the UK it comes in at $13.40

@ModSully I think most modders know that it’s the weight of the responsibility of managing a game that big and the bureaucracy, not “laziness”. Being a block has advantages, but being an entity has way more. The flexibility it gives to put a seat on any height surface is worth it

I'm utterly disappointed in @modrinth . They sold out to the kind of company that adds "coins" and cosmetics to the game... If I wanted my Minecraft Java experience to resemble Bedrock I'd have just gotten Lunar or some other cosmetic-bloated shit. Back to @CurseForge it is.

@Funny_Anar It makes no sense for them to add free bedrock addons, when spark universe is known for making money by selling bedrock addons. Addons for Bedrock on Modrinth will now never happen.

Theres a high barrier to entry for the marketplace, but modders more than anyone are given special treatment to get on there

@DaContinuedOak @SumersChamp @codeHusky This ^^. New updates on Bedrock addition are almost entirely behavior packs atp, that kind of functionality does not exist in Java. They have been taking huge strides toward it every update, which should set them up to perhaps making the games code more stable in a few years

@SumersChamp @codeHusky it benefits us mod developers, data pack creators and resource pack artist...not to mention improves development for the developers themselves for when they want to do a larger update. it effects all players as it optimizes the games improving FPS and performance

with how minimal Minecraft updates are now, you could just competently clone Minecraft with almost no changes and have people more excited than any of these “drops”
