@_Barrettt_ Why is the resolution so bad? It’s unacceptable that the resolution is so low! Post higher resolution renders!

A former Valve developer, who retired after 45 years in the gaming / computer industry, did a small Q&A and answered the question of what HLX (rumored to be Half-Life 3) project is: "I think you know the answer to that :-)"

@ibxtoycat You can’t create a version of Steam or amazon for Minecraft mods or for any game mods for that matter. It’s just not possible.

@m1110011 well you don't pay for convenience and updates on java edition because there is no convenience and update system built into the game lol.

btw, one of the most ridiculous marketplace policies is charging the same amount for a map in USD or GBP $9.99 is already insane for a map, but in the UK it comes in at $13.40

@ibxtoycat I don’t think there’s anything convenient about bedrock or the marketplace. It’s just designed to rip off money from parents.

@ibxtoycat Who pays for easy convenience and updates on PC? Literally just download prism launcher and install anything you want with automatic updates. Every mod maker is free to lock their mods behind a paywall. Most people will not pay for it though. How does the creator of sodium do it?

@m1110011 you can download many add-ons off the marketplace too, but even on PC many players prefer paying for convenience and easy updates. I don't think that wanting to earn from what you create is something so bad, why do you think all modders should work for free in this case?

@ibxtoycat Well if you’re a mod maker for Minecraft you shouldn’t expect any support or to make a living off of it lmao. Releasing your shit on the marketplace literally forces kids to pay for it. I’d call marketplace a scam before I call it support for the “creator”.

Kane Parsons, the director of Backrooms, keeps baiting Valve fans with a new highlight called "Valve" in which he posts Half-Life and Portal related stories. Kane Parsons was just 20 years old when he mentioned that directing a feature-film adaptation of Portal would be his dream. However he is 21 years old now.

@ibxtoycat I'm looking at them looking at their own game with disdain... They wanna own rights to selling compute like with Realms. They wanna lock down Java I think. But also excuses for not developing offline components gains legislation like you can't run a game I've pulled support for.

@m1110011 Appreciate you reporting them. One thing worth trying is to go to Settings -> Shields -> Content filtering and turn on the filter(s) for the region/language you're browsing. It should help with some of those non-English ads.

@itsmeautismus to say hitler hated polish people is a stretch imo. I think hitler wanted peace with these countries, but also wanted to free the opressed germans in poland an tschecho slovakei. but since they were backed up by france and england they didnt wanna hear that shit.

@BrendanEich @brave Brave shields fails to block ads on some niche non english language sites. When ublock origin on Firefox blocks those ads perfectly fine. If both shields and ublock use almost the same lists then why can't shields block those ads?

I have to say I'm loving @Brave Origin: minimal UX just feels lighter. It's a cliché, but even with familiarity, busier UX takes a cognitive toll. The counter-argument is many can't afford to pay. We will always provide brave.com/download for free. brave.com/origin

Update on Stop Killing Games: Ross Scott responds to the EU setback. The European Commission said it does not plan to introduce new laws requiring game publishers to keep games playable after support ends. Instead, it pointed to existing consumer protection laws. > Stop Killing Games founder Ross Scott said the response was mostly expected and told supporters not to lose hope. He argued that relying on existing laws creates uncertainty, as there is still no clear answer on publishers’ legal obligations when shutting down games. > Scott said the campaign still has other options, including pushing for changes through the upcoming Digital Fairness Act, and that the initiative has strong support in the European Parliament. > According to Scott, the European Commission is currently the biggest obstacle, but he stressed the campaign is far from over and urged supporters to focus on the next steps.
