Your trading journal is your most valuable asset. If you aren't writing down why you took a trade, you aren't learning. You’re still trading base on hype and vibes.

Take trading seriously. Take trading seriously. Take trading seriously. Most won’t. That’s exactly why the ones who do… eat. No more half-assing your setups. No more skipping your journal. No more blaming the market. This is a business. Act like it. Who’s locking in this week? 🔥

Most traders think a trading journal is just logging trades. It’s not. The best journals don’t track what happened… They reveal why you keep getting the same results. That’s the difference between staying stuck and actually improving. 🧵

Real trading is learned by actually trading. - Educational videos won't make you profitable. - Psychology books will make you confident. Take $100. Then trade risking $1 per position on the 1 minute chart. Learn to journal, learn to read price action, learn to follow your rules, learn to build a profitable strategy and learn to manage your emotions. This is the single best way to learn.

Half of you spent the weekend watching trading reels and not one of you opened your journal. I’ve been running the same model since my 1-2K weeks. Still running it now at 5 figures. Nothing changed but the size. — 9:30 open or news — Draw on liquidity: PDH/L, prev session H/L, EQ H/L — 4H/1H FVGs and key highs/lows marked — Stop run into the level — 5M or 15M breaker or iFVG → starter — Out at 2R or the next draw Every app on your phone is built to convince you the answer is one more indicator. One more strategy. It’s not. The answer is showing up Monday with the same plan you had Friday. Remember there are people at home counting on you to make it.

Every Trading Skill Level Explaned Level 0: No Strategy - No strategy. Just tips and 'gut feelings' - No written rules for entries, exits, or stop losses - No journal. No screenshots. No data. - Position sizes swing wildly (1% one day, 10% the next) - Wins feel like skill. Losses feel like bad luck. Level 1: Inconsistent Strategy - Learning to read charts: support/resistance, candlestick patterns, market structure - Setting up your exchange, understanding order types, securing your capital - Starting to define entry triggers, stop loss placement, take profit rules - Risk per trade becoming more consistent but still varies - Journal has data, but execution still varies Level 2: Consistent Strategy - Follows strategy rules on 90%+ of trades - Journals every trade with screenshots and comments - Has a working routine: checklist, report card, emotional check-ins - Data is clean and reliable - Not yet consistently profitable: equity curve may be flat or slightly negative Level 3: Consistent & Profitable - Positive expectancy over 30+ trades - Upward-sloping equity curve - Can distinguish a good setup from a great one - Beginning to introduce discretion based on data - Making money but not yet at meaningful size Level 4: Consistent, Profitable & Scaled - Consistently making four to five+ figures per month - Scaled to a meaningful portfolio size - Multiple strategies across different market conditions - Execution fluid and largely automatic - Emotional stability under large position sizes - Continuous edge development as a habit, not a project What level are you on?

Apr 20: Trading Journal #43 Ignoring the ugly loss, I was green on the day with trading Market didn’t give the capitulation I was looking for to recoup losses so I closed out most swings Head wasn’t fully in it and got chopped out of several scalps Added to NFXL and NNOX for a longer-term hold assuming the crash is done P/L: SPY 675p 5/15 → -$1,525 (-54.61%) QQQ 600p 6/18 → +$39 (+5.47%) UVIX → +$31 (+2.75%) TSLA calls mixed Overall rough day but market is finally regaining some structure so things should start going smoother

I built a trading journal. Not a spreadsheet with a UI. Not a feature checklist built with Claude. A system I spent a decade perfecting in Excel - now automated. Built by a retired software engineer who's been profitable since 2018. Here's what's inside: → AI Trade Coach that reads YOUR trades ("You lose 73% before 10am") → CSV import for major brokers → Crypto, options, futures, stock support → P&L calendar with heatmap → Full trade logging with multi-leg support → Psychology tracking → Full analytics suite → P&L Goals (daily/weekly/monthly targets) → AI daily briefings + insight cards Built what I use every single day, and iterated with REAL user feedback. Journaling builds the habit. The habit reveals your mistakes. The mistakes, once seen, stop repeating. Trade smarter, not harder 🫡 tradedogapp.com
