Surely, there's a law that makes daft ideas like floating bus stops illegal! How can sticking a two-way cycle lane right next to a bus stop and pavement not a health hazard to all? Just look at this awful situation. I wonder if this is Chiswick High Street. Disaster!
Vincent Stops@VincentStops

This blind man has travelled by bus independently all his life. But he can no longer use this stop as he is must alight onto an island with no idea where he is and has a two-way cycle track to cross! The government has done this so cyclists ‘feel’ safe. Alt below.

@JoshuaGarfield To all intents and purposes the UK house association is one self appointed self important pensioner.

@JoshuaGarfield It has very little footprint. Claims to have been around since 2000. Was a charity for a few years but only ever turned over £300. It has no membership. This Ltd company appears unrelated There are 4 names on their website but only one of them appears to do anything.

Its official: I’m appearing in City of London Magistrates tomorrow for the heinous ‘offence’ of cycling no-handed. I guess in some ways it must be good news, as it means @CityPolice must have solved all the robberies, burglaries, fraud, assault, bike theft, dangerous driving and other serious offences. If not, I’m not sure how they could justify spending lots of taxpayers money, days of officer time, and a day of time in our horrendously backlogged courts, prosecuting something which does not appear illegal, which thousands of cyclists do without issue every day and which has not caused harm to anyone else or myself. Wish me luck! I’ll report back.
Paul Powlesland@paulpowlesland

I recently got stopped & ticketed by the City of London Police for, & I kid you not, “cycling no handed”. Even though it’s clearly not an offence, the officer said they were ticketing me under the Human Rights Act as I was infringing other people’s Article 2 ‘Right to Life’, in case I fell off & injured them: utterly bonkers stuff. With bicycle theft basically legalised in the City due to the complete failure of the Police to bother investigating such thefts & people being regularly terrorised in London by e-bike phone muggers, it’s good to see the City of London Police concentrating the resources on what really matters.

Traffic evaporation - the "seminal study" says it only happens in specific circumstances What are they then? Oh - when network capacity is actually reduced and there isn't spare capacity elsewhere. Charlatan.

Once again can only conclude these people are idiots. Lime launched in London in 2022 and have use has been growing massively year on year so even this 10% of all journey stages figure is likely understated.

Yes, the correct approach to these 'modern day full kit cyclists' riding considerately on the pavement alongside busy A10, which has no safe space for cycling, is to block their way and shout at them. Attached: Police guidance on enforcing against pavement cycling. Charlatan

These people are either thick or think their followers are. The TfL data appears to show risk *per trip* - accounting for the increase in cycling - lowest since 2010 (ever?) KSI risk slightly up, but increase in dangerous driving would seem likely cause(see other data point)

@LUDENClassics It’s heading back into a better direction. Wd still prefer real dials (fine to have a central TFT section but I like a needle and dial) and a shall gear stick. Why do people hate a thick rim? I have quite large hand and find them more comfortable?

I can understand why people would say this is soulless, though I can also see the strong links to classic Ferraris, and I think it's a step in the right direction from what Ferrari have produced in recent years. That's to say it's pared back, not chintzy, not a visual mess etc. Also nice to have a modern steering wheel that's not got a too-thick rim and no space between the centre and rim because of so many buttons and airbag etc. Compared to some recent steering wheels it's almost elegant

We’ve seen the powertrain, now we head to San Francisco to get hands on with the bold new interior for Ferrari’s very first EV: the Luce.

The usual suspects react in their typically Trumpian way to the new official government guidance on Bus Stop Bypasses. It’s actually all very sensible and well thought through. But of course it means no death to cycle lanes so John and Vinny can’t cope. 🤭

@andrewellson And you? another few years on and I still can’t find a single positive post about any LTN, cycle scheme or people cycling. With over 100LTNs in London surely you could pick out some you consider best practice?
Andrew Ellson@andrewellson

@JoRigby_Balham 1, I’m not anti LTN, I simply have reported on the many flaws of a Tory policy and the negative impact it has had on many people’s lives, mostly poorer residents of main roads, workmen, the emergency services and the disabled.

A council elected on a mandate to remove LTNs has been told that its decision to axe the schemes was unlawful I fear this decision won't help restore faith in local democracy.. My story today: thetimes.com/uk/london/arti…
