This is termed weaponised Keynesianism. The fallacy that jobs cannot be created by vast expenditure on public infrastructure and research that add social value, but miraculously can be created by investing billions on military hardware and weaponry that will never be used.

People tend to feel super guilty about being on disability benefits when they have a good day, hour or week.
The culture of attack on claimants right now worsens this.
But ups and downs in functioning are core to most disability experience.

They could have written that headline about Israeli slaughtering families in Gaza every day since Oct '23.
And they wouldn't need to pretend that 3 members of a family (grim enough) is three generations, unlike in Gaza where entire multi generation families have been wiped out.
