"The kindest person in the room is often the smartest." "How to spot an idiot... look for the cruelty... they've failed the first test of an advanced society." An address to #auspol would be most welcome please Governor Pritzker! #KindnessMatters

College graduation speeches are often evergreen. They can be given at any time, similar from decade to decade. Which is why Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker’s “How To Spot An Idiot” at Northwestern’s graduation is so genius. It is the speech for TODAY

ALMOST 5x SURGE IN WHOPPING COUGH IN 🇰🇷—Pertussis has reached its highest level in more than 20 years in Korea. According to Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, 1,365 people have been infected with the highly contagious respiratory disease as of June 1. The figure has already exceeded the annual total of 292 in 2023, and is higher than any year since 2001, the earliest year for which data is available. ➡️Meanwhile for US, there have been at least 4,864 whooping cough cases reported in the U.S. this year. This is nearly **3x** higher than the 1,746 cases reported in 2023 during the same period. In China, more than 90,000 cases were reported this April alone. koreatimes.co.kr/www/nation/202…

What is being described here is not just a persistent infection, it's a permanent infection of the brain. Wear a mask.

That implies a 69% chance that there is someone infectious in a group of 30. As always, that would skew higher for those connected to schools and health care facilities.

A human case of avian influenza A(H5N1) infection, also known as “bird flu”, has been reported in Victoria. There is no evidence of transmission in Victoria and the chance of additional human cases is very low as avian influenza does not easily spread between people. 1/2 🧵

Vic Covid update(weekly again) "The number of people in hospital with COVID-19 has increased this week. The 7-day average is 284, compared to 208 last week." Seriously rapid increase in hospitalisations in Vic! Wastewater up but data is 2 weeks old. Who could have predicted this?

People asking if rapid rise in Vic Covid hospitalisations triggers an escalation in Health System Response. Stage 2 says >250 & staff pressures & we have both those but no word from govt yet. But hospitals can determine their own level of masking, visitor access, etc. Don't wait!

France implements an 800ppm CO2 limit in classrooms. They recognise clean air is vital to reducing COVID transmission. Meanwhile, in many Australian schools: a) No idea what CO2 has to do with COVID b) One CO2 monitor, in a drawer in the principal's office c) Zero mitigations
LET'S AIR@nousaerons

We offer a translation into English of our synoptic on the new French environmental code relating to the measurement of CO2 in schools. A PDF version is available at nousaerons.fr/regulations This is intended for foreigners who have expressed an interest in this new code.
