@intently_co @jonathanrwall Brother I was there on 18 when it landed and that wind was so strong, random and blowing from behind at an angle towards the water. The fairway was maybe 25 years wide. It was in insane shot to say the least.

Cameron Young's 375-yard 🚀 on the 18th has received a lot of press — and rightfully so. It was the longest drive ever recorded on the hole in the ShotLink era. But let's talk about the driver he used to pull it off. Since he switched to a Pro V1x "Double Dot" prototype last year, Young has worked with J.J. Van Wezenbeeck, Titleist’s senior director of player promotions, to dial in his entire setup. Driver included. Young initially moved from a 9-degree GT2 into a 10-degree GT2, but some offseason swing changes produced a third build. Work with Van Wezenbeeck led Young to try out an 11-degree GT3 at Bay Hill. While the head says "11," it's actually lofted down to 10.25 degrees in the D1 SureFit setting. A quick turn of the wrench resulted in a higher launch without negatively impacting spin. In Young's case: 11 degrees and 2,500 RPMs (GT3) versus 9 degrees and 2,400 RPMs (GT2). So a tick more spin with a higher launch. Many call those high 💣s. "I don't know if I can think of one that's better... first time that thought's really popped in my mind, and I think I did what I intended," Young said of the driver. "It’s one of the best shots I've ever hit in my life."

Both of my daughters are volleyball players, and I’ve watched elite girls’ varsity volleyball for years. This season I’m getting to experience boys’ high school varsity volleyball for the first time with my son and I’ve realized that it’s barely the same sport. Males’ speed, vertical, and raw power is on a completely different level beyond anything I’ve seen even from the best female players. The physical gap is undeniable and in sports there is no doubt that exclusion protects women.

my favourite moments from marty supreme in no particular order with zero to little context. (if you’ve not yet watched it and intend to please don’t read ahead these are spoilers) - the entire movie revolves around marty doing chaotic and narcissistic marty things chasing his one true goal of fulfilling his purpose of becoming the world’s greatest ping pong player. yet that one honey suckling scene off the guy’s chest and back builds a parallel narrative in less than a couple of minutes so strongly. another world champion, a jew, having lived a life that prioritised others almost strangers in his jewish camp at the cost of his dignity. establishing it fairly early in the film both the contrast and the existence of an alternative humane way to strive in excellence. - marty has a fairly abusive relationship with his mother but the quiet act of her sleeping in his room surrounded by his trophies, when he tip goes through the window contrary to her protesting that she only goes in his room to clean, speaks volumes of how much she misses him. - the use of music! starting with “forever young” playing in the background as one of the finest ways to show copulation and ending with “everybody wants to rule the world” as the soundtrack to how a man becoming a father truly humbles him (however selfish he may be) - the depiction of the japanese humility, fairness, craft, respect and quietness as a contrast to the loud self absorbed american protagonist (that man didn’t say a word but my god - SO BRILLIANT) all of this in the backdrop of the world war - the invincible moses the dog who outlived everyone (who i was rooting for the survive and survive he did and how) - the bath tub scene - the getting a piece from the pyramids scene and giving it to his mother - the “i love yous” in the end of each sentence/exchange with his highly toxic uncle - the character of rachel and her undying unflinching love built on the same game of lies as a mirror to marty (the player gets played) - the answer of “what if doesn’t work” out “that doesn’t even enter my consciousness” - “i would steal from me” - the fact that marty won but didn’t win the championship because it takes way more to be one and he’s extremely away from where the likes of endo and his honey jew friend are - the yellow table tennis ball (the actual marty supreme) will be rooting for this movie in the oscars - timothy is a TREAT to watch.
