I just watched a woman who gave 35 years of her life to the State of Florida. Her badge # read 100. She wasn’t a DEI hire. She wasn’t pushed in by politics or quotas. She was hired because she was competent… disciplined… and built for the job. And after 35 years, she was able to retire with honor in a Republican-controlled state. A state that still values law enforcement… a state that rewards service instead of punishing it. Tallahassee may lean Democrat as a city, but the Highway Patrol she served under operates in a Republican-led state that protects order, merit, and courage. Lieutenant Thompson, I salute you. Thank you for your service and your unwavering dedication. Not surprising to see CA state officials living in a leftist information bubble. Miami Beach spring break is a great example of responding to a problem and fixing it.

@ChristinaPushaw And they didn't need the marines, just #FHP. Too bad that our legislative leadership decides their pay by what they feel "comfortable" with. Apparantly they're "comfortable" keeping their Troopers in the bottom 5 lowest paid in the nation.

Apparently, you haven't kept up with the news. Spring Break in Miami Beach has been peaceful and quiet the last couple of years because the local & state officials work together to enforce the laws. California should try it sometime.

Training was not provided, nor were Troopers given any authority to enforce Immigration. Troopers had to undergo 287(g) training and be credentialed, which only happened recently. In fact, under the previous administration, all Troopers when confronted with an illegal immigrant could do was enforce any relevant state statutes (No License, DUI, etc), none of which pertained to just being in the country illegally at the time and contact Border Patrol, who would refuse to respond, leaving the Trooper with no choice but to release them. I'm sorry you had a bad interaction with one of our Troopers on that day (perhaps you mistook his or her frustration for smugness), but that one interaction hardly invites your celebration of the other 1,699 Troopers being condemned to shoddy equipment and poverty wages.

It's not just body armor they want to de-fund. It's cars, raises and the slashing of almost 200 Trooper and dispatcher positions. FHP ranks lowest in pay for Troopers nationally, and @Daniel_PerezFL intends to do nothing to fix it in retaliation for FHP answering Gov DeSantis' call on immigration.

@johncardillo @Daniel_PerezFL Hey now, don't forget his budget proposal to cut funding for ballistic armor and cars, slash almost 200 Trooper and Dispatcher positions, and eliminate raises for FHP, the lowest paid State Troopers in the nation. What is he thinking?

.@Daniel_PerezFL grossly overplayed his hand. He thought Floridians weren't paying attention and he could ram through leftist legislation, but we were. He's lost the governor and state senate. Voters can't stand him. County GOPs are starting to call him out. He's done.

FHP protects Florida with pride. Lawmakers fail to support them. Calling for an audit of the Florida Legislature’s funding decisions. Refusing to properly support and compensate FHP. Why can’t they properly pay its Troopers? FHP deserves better-and so do the citizens they protect
