The Sisters of Mercy plot at Belvedere Cemetery. The Foundress of the Newfoundland chapter of the religious order, Sister Antonio Egan, gets a small pedestal. They educated so many.

Holy cow, Italy rolled out the red carpet for Canada. And gotta say, extremely impressed with this rendition of O Canada. Usually other countries do a half assed, piss poor version of it. Not Italy! This is perfection! Thank you Italy!

Yesterday, our handsome, big boy left us. We are heartbroken. Never was a wolfhound so loved. He will be missed by us and his sister, Belle. He lived a good life with the sun on his face and the sound of the ocean always in his ears. Rest in peace dear, gentle Tully.

2/25 Historical Context Corvettes historically bridged the gap between frigates and smaller patrol craft. The Flower-class, introduced in 1939, was designed for coastal duties but adapted for oceanic warfare. Its story reflects the exigencies of war and the ingenuity of pragmatic engineering.

The Flower-Class Corvette: A Study in Simplicity, Strength, and Evolution 1/25 Introduction to the Flower-Class Corvette Flower-class corvette, a modest warship of World War II, epitomised utility over grandeur. Built by the Royal Navy and its allies, it served as a small but vital escort vessel. This thread (as requested) examines its design, strengths, weaknesses, wartime role, and legacy as a test bed for future naval platforms.

@terryoinfluence In Newfoundland most lobster are consumed either at home or group gatherings, and not in restaurants. Mothers Day is busiest day for lobster sales. Also Good Friday is the biggest day of the year for fish & chips shops.

My cabin is on Turk's Gut Long Pond. During WW1, Newfoundland Regiment fought the Turks at Galipoli. So Turk's Gut became Georgetown on the Protestant side of the river and Marysvale on the Catholic side. The pond name stayed. The Regiment added Royal.
